*** HP Reverb G2 Owners Thread ***

I phoned this morning at 9am, placed a pre-order for the G2 with controllers. I was told they are expecting them next week. My previous conversation with them 2 weeks ago I was told they were due in yesterday. Think they are due at anytime, over the next day /week by the sound of it.

Interesting. Thanks. The person at HP was very confident that they were arriving tomorrow and would be shipped out hopefully the same day. I have just had a "we are processing you order" email with an expected delivery date of next Tuesday the 16th. Fingers crossed.

Mines supposed to be out for delivery with estimate of 16th for delivery, hoping it might arrive sooner, would be nice if it arrives on the 15th as that's my birthday :-)

I can't decide whether to pre-order the Reverb G2 or wait for another headset to enter the market.

I see many reports of poor sweetspot, poor fov and poor controller tracking and quality control issues, really don't know what to do.

Only have a Rift S, that I've never used, but don't want to have to deal with Facebook.

Not aware of anything interesting on the immediate horizon... only thing that’s been announced as such is the great unknown of the Decagear which may or may not be vapourware and may or may not even come close to hitting release targets.

No doubt there will be some new stuff around if you wait, but I wouldn’t count on anything interesting this year necessarily.

G2, when it works for you, is pretty awesome. It’s not perfect but I’m greatly enjoying it... it’s the only real viable option currently if you aren’t wanting to drop 1k on an index and don’t like Facebook.

Sorry, I am just replying to this again. Issues with headsets are always amplified on the various forums. I would advise you to try one out yourself and see, no matter how good or bad the reviews are.

It's so subjective because there are just so many factors involved. Head size and shape, Eye socket size and shape, your IPD, your eyesight etc.

If you are interested in VR get the headset. Try it out. If you don't like it, return it. In this case there is nothing to be gained by waiting.

Ordered a G2 from HP on the phone this morning, it's been dispatched this afternoon. That was easy!
Finally decided to order one this afternoon, tried ringing was told it was out of stock, the girl did set up an account for me and quote and to try again tomorrow or Monday.

Thanks melmac, finally decided to order one after seeing a through the lens video, but now out of stock. Grrr.

The fella I spoke to was initially reluctant to let me order, but allowed me to place a 'pre-order' with some pushing. He told me they'd email when it eventually became available to ship, so I was very surprised to see it ship this afternoon.

I suspect if you ask them to allow you to pre order then it'll ship quite quickly. Not sure the sales reps have all the info.

I'll see what happens on Monday and if this quote doesn't let me pre-order I'll give them a call and try and convince them to let me pre-order.

Did I mention that I was a sales rep for HP? :p

Best of luck, hope you get it delivered soon, they seem to be on the ball, so it shouldn't be too long of wait.
:D

If you call, make sure you use the phone number and not the computer calling/video chat. When I used the video chat they didn't know anything, whereas the person I spoke with on the real telephone had all the details.

I tried calling on the telephone, the girl said that they were not in stock, then I said, as I was told by email that stock was due next week, which I told her.
She then created an Account for me and sent me a quote and she said to try again Saturday or Monday, by clicking the link in the quote.

Have any of the owners here had reason to return a faulty headset back to HP directly? I've been reading accounts of owners being charged a restocking fee when they've chosen to ask for a refund rather than go through the RMA process which has put me off of taking the plunge.
