HP Reverb G2 uk release date?

For me it's about that headset, might grab the index controllers and lighthouse setup to go with it one day, but from what I've seen I think the tracking will be just fine for my usage

Good to see that in the US they are basically covering a week or so daily.
Already mid august pre-order deliveries.
I think once we start getting the System Active deliveries it will only take a couple of weeks to fulfill most pre-orders, as SA only ships to the UK.
I feared the worst, but this is actually not bad. Considering all the launch troubles with the 30xx cards as well.

I see even the pre-orders are disabled now here.

Christ maybe I will keep the G2. I am so torn I don't want janky controller tracking , but as much as I am impressed with the quest 2 (I played E:D in it last night for a few hrs and it was great). But this is another level. This is a through the lense video with a camera literally shoved inside the headset......

What GPU do you have? Too lazy to search through your previous posts :)

I was going to upgrade my 1080 but I think I'm going to hold out one more generation tbh. Will see how performance is on the G2 but I'm sure it'll do for now.

Depends what games you're playing - my son was trying to play zero caliber on a 1080ti with a quest2 this morning and it was dipping to 60-70fps and wasn't really what I would call playable, I've resigned to getting a 3080/or ti in Jan to go with my G2 so he can have my 2080ti

How close is the Q2 after the 90hz update?

Tracking appears yo be totally serviceable, shooters included. Link. I liked how controllers nicely rendered shaky hands with a 4x scope. A gunstock would have helped. Perhaps tracking is not good enough for ultra competitive play, but then it's only the index that really cuts it for hard core FPS. Nothing beats 144hz + lighthouse tracking.
Lets hope Microsoft would not abandon VMR and would push tracking updates after the recent update improving G2s visuals.

Came Across this video, This guy is benchmarking games with the G2,
The one thing that stands out to me the most is the amount of vram being used, not sure if that is used or allocated vram but maybe my 3080 is about to be but put through a serious test with its 10gb
It must be allocated VRAM. HL Alyx runs on 1060. I therefore strongly doubt it needs more than 8gb to run smoothly at high settings.

I mean that’s what a warranty is for ultimately, all electronics have a failure rate... typical consumer electronics you would expect around 0.1% DOA apparently.

If you have a worldwide launch that we could guess is at least 10,000 units so far you would expect at least 100 failed headsets in that volume assuming HP are hitting industry averages. They could be a bit worse with a new product like this. Add to that those with failed headsets are much more likely to make noise/be noticed and you can see how there would be a significant sampling bias.

Much more of concern to me than a few dead headsets is that those who have reported issues in the US with connection for example have been put to the back of the order queue for a replacement. That is unacceptable.

What other way is there to do it? There is no stock, the headsets that are made have already been bought and paid for.
