HP Reverb G2 uk release date?

Sorry if this has been answered already, but can't see the answer.

Do we know what the stock availability is for the G2 from the System Active? I haven't pre-ordered one and I am wondering if I do pre-order now whether it is likely that I will get one in time for Christmas.

I think SA were planing to issue a separate update for those who ordered/will order past 30.10.20. I have not seen this info yet. I bet they were not able to get anything definite from HP. Worst case scenario - there will only be 2 batches of shipment (covering orders up to 30.10.20) before the end of the year. They may squize in another batch. HP were making noises elsewhere (so it may not be valid for SAs orders) that if one pre-orders now, they may expect to get it at the end of December - but that may literally be the 31-st, who knows. So a third batch could happen, but it's a tough call if it will happen in time for Christmas, if it happens at all that is.

Last I looked there is a very small number of headset only units you may get before Xmas but the full package is after Xmas, Jan sometime now

Thanks guys for your responses. I was thinking of delving into VR for Christmas but otherwise might hold off on this.

What other way is there to do it? There is no stock, the headsets that are made have already been bought and paid for.

Companies know there will be a failure rate, they should normally set aside a small proportion as rma stock to fulfil any return requirements.

As mentioned you would only expect maybe 0.1% of stock to be faulty with typical consumer electronics, so the impact on the delivery rate to include that buffer is near zero, but it avoids bad PR and poor customer service experience...

In normal times I would agree with you, but these aren't normal times, just look at the latest GPU and CPU releases. HP are scrambling just to fulfill pre-orders at the moment.

Not so sure I would agree with you about avoiding the bad PR though. Even if they did have headsets set aside for RMA, it would still take a few weeks to resolve an RMA with the current logistic nightmares. But, you know as well as I do, that even if they turned the RMA around in a week, they would still get bad PR. They are already getting bad PR over the few faulty headsets as it is.

I recently had a xbox series x delivered in a terrible condition from pc World, took them over a week to send me a new one, they did not keep any stock back for replacements, so I had to wait for new stock,
I was surprised when they said it wont get replaced until more stock came In, lucky it was Christmas present for my eldest so not to bad having to wait and still got in time for Christmas

Same is happening with Graphic cards too.

Right, so in order for people to get their headsets on the 1-st, I would imagine, the cards would need to be sent out this Friday, 27.11.20. If you get any tracking updates, please share the news!

Most couriers are 24-7 operations these days, reckon we'll see something Sunday or even Monday

Could easily ship on the 30th for arrival on the 1st.

For my own sanity, and given the way it’s gone so far, I’m going to assume there’ll be a customs delay or something just to mess with us.

I won’t believe it’s coming on the 1st until I see it’s out with the delivery driver!

MSFS 2020 VR being touted for the 23rd of December.

Nice that they rolled the G2 out in plenty of time. Another £50 to spend i guess:)

Feature discovery episode on VR for the 17th - will be interesting to watch. So is the assumption that it is coming in Sim update 2 on the 23rd? Where did you see that out of interest?

Yeah there is a noticeable difference there, which is nice to see, but the Q2 is looking pretty good I have to say. The new link update appears to have really helped.
