HP Reverb G2 uk release date?

Slightly off topic but as im still a VR Noob and never owned a proper pcvr headset before until i get this G2,
Question to you veterans,
I have a 1440p monitor, do you have to lower the game resolution for the video output on the monitor to increase performance in the headset?
Or will this make it look pants in the headset by also lowering the resolution?
Cheers

Your monitor wont have any impact on the VR experience, you'll be good :)

Holly Molly, I may have just made it (ordered on the 27.10)! I could get it before the 10-th! I don't even believe my eyes, I'll go read the email again. :D
Gosh, where do I get the GPU to run this thing??? I tried with 6800 xt, but it was a joke. Can an RX 480 even output this resolution? :D Kidding.
Congrats to all and, please, don't forget to post here your impressions on Tuesday the 1-st! For the ones still waiting.

I just hooked up my quest 2 to my £30 5m usb cable and I gotta say that has thrown a cat among the pigeons. i forced it to 90hz and knocked up the resolution a bit (not a huge amount i will tweak more later)..... Elite Dangerous and Robo Recall visually blow me away.

I accept the Reverb G2 will look better.... I assume it will have a better FOV (my IPD is 69 which apparently means my FOV suffers on quest 2.

but.................. Elite text is so much clearer (than on my cv1 or DK2). Robo recall looks beautiful.

anything clearer than that is just icing on the cake. so now it comes down to touch vs windows MR controller tracking and then the FOV

I gotta admit I am noticing the FOV is down from my rift and that really sucks. the CV1 is what i consider minimum FOV really.... and i must admit its not as comfy as the rift......

its just the bloody windows controllers i am worried about.. (well that and the cost of course). My question to myself is, would the quest 2 be good enough to put me on for a year or so until something new comes out.

And honestly i dont know. I am completely torn.

I guess the bottom line is i wont lose money by keeping the order, indeed the 1 thing that is certain is that i WILL lose £35 if i cancel the G2...... so worst case scenario i keep the G2, try it and then sell it for maybe £600 in mint condition. I imagine i could get that for it off someone with different priorities to me and who does not want a quest 2 for what ever reason (and wants a G2 before xmas).

From what I have seen on Reddit, usual and normal use seems to have no tracking issues whatsoever. Many comments saying Beat Saber on expert is absolutely fine and other games are also fine. It seems reviewers are finding where the tracking fails in edge cases and making a big deal over it.

A lot of reviewers (particularly youtube ones) have like a studio setup with bright lighting - this will cause tracking issues as the tracking relies on LED's, quite a few people have commented that one they removed extra lighting from their room it improved massively. The headset has a "flashlight" mode that lets you see what the tracking cameras see so you can see if e.g. there is too much light reflecting off the controllers.

Basically just confirmed everything we already knew. Visuals great, tracking fair, controllers adequate.

Might pick one up when they go on sale in January :p

I wouldn't mind one for Sims. Don't think I can justify another VR headset purchase though! Besides, I need a new graphics card first.

I suspect tracking will never be amazing - I think the camera placement will the ultimately limiting factor. I am sure they will improve it to a certain extent with software.

This.
The visuals are seriously impressive. Look at the soda cans, the fine print. Wow. Especially considering that it's a through the lens video with all the extra distortion added.
December 10-th is the new Xmas for me!

Tested review. Always the best, in-depth VR reviews.
Nice and balanced review, thanks for posting.
