Personally I'm amazed people are willing to buy phone contracts on a phone they don't want and won't resell for the crazy prices people seem to think they will just to get hold of one of these touchpads.
Seriously?

There are a lot of people out there who are a marketing teams dream.

I don't see the problem really?

Selling the pre 3 + cashback nets you enough to pay for the entire contract (or very close to). It's a free touchpad.

Dear xxxx,

We have to inform you that your order 0000000000000 has been cancelled. This is due to the limited stock we had on Touch Pads at this time and we could not fullfil all orders. Please accept our apologies that we were not on this occasion able to meet your requirements satisfactorily.

Any payment already made by you for this order will be credited to your account or to your credit or debit card.
Please be advised at this time that we have no further Touch Pad products to offer as an alternative and our Store Teams will not be able to advise any differently.

If you have concerns about any refunds due please contact 0845 604 2921 or email us at [email protected]

The HP Store is continually available for your computing needs, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Best regards

Argos removed their yesterday evening and Comet removed theirs well over a week ago now :)

Sorry, that wasn't intended to be 'late breaking' information, but I was merely using it as a way to illustrate that the some of the previously available options, which had been giving hope to some folk that stock might suddenly become available on these websites are now been removed, and that the chances of anyone who is still hoping to obtain a Touchpad at the 'fire sale' prices are becoming fewer and fewer, and I guess by now are extremely remote.

Still it was fun while it lasted... wasn't it? ;)

No need to answer that question by the way! :D

I am sure somewhere in a seedy boardroom there are the "managers" of these big coporations probably telling HP they dont want them..

Why would they, it causes them nothing but grief, often site crashes, system always seems to fall over, as to date only John Lewis has actually seemed to off done it properly..

PCWB et al probabaly lost money with all the staff hours needed to sort out the mess. If I was head of Argos I would in no way want these on the website/in stores.

Call centers suddenly get flooded, and all this cost staff hours, they have to take a global view and they will want a good experience for other customers..

It was getting daft with a load of talk about Argos stores getting stock on the 11th and people were thinking about camping outside stores FFS..

I got the HP email of death too.

On the upside, I only wanted a touchpad because I thought it might be handy while sat on the sofa. As I haven't even seen the sofa in 2 weeks, let alone sat on it, its no longer required.

All I need now is another bargain hunt to consume my time.

Have you done all the tweaks?
update software, install preware etc

Not yet. I couldn't get the System Update to work either, which I was going to do before preware, etc. I can browse the web fine, pick up email fine, but the System Update just spins until it times out.

It's not even that the streams break up or jitter, they won't start, all I get is the spinning circle. For some reason can't even get to *.tvcatchup.com.

Edit - some hints here (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18309685&page=38) to try tonight.

Im still at the credit check stage? This sites all over the place, not had any dodgy emails sent through. I did order at 10:45 though maybe because it was one of their first orders they decided to not cancel it? Who knows....
