The ETA disappeared from the tracking yesterday, I think it said the 14th before.

Yup - mine did the same.

My first EPP order went through and was delivered 2 days lateron 25/08.

Looks like they had to wait for more stock to honour the other orders - the ones that went to "backorder". Seems like most of the 16gb orders went to backorder and the 32gb ones were delivered straight away (my first EPP order was for a 32gb one - the one dispateched today was a 16gb one). The 64gb via eAwards came through the day after approval :-)

Apparently they're hounouring the backorders by raiding the 6000 touchpads set aside for the UK EPP "register interest" program announced a few days ago.

I am just not sure why they would put them back up on their site otherwise.

And did anybody have any clue JL was going to get stock and sell them that weekend? It seemed to surprise everybody.

And also, if the info is correct about how many 64gb were made (50,000) then out there, there is over 49,000 to be sold somewhere in Europe. Not sure I beleive that there was 50,000 made though.

I've been monitoring the HDUK forum over the last couple of days.

Almost everyone working for JL CS have said they are not getting anymore in stock, there are no records of them anywhere.

Someone spoke to a supervisor who told them, there are none in their warehouse and none getting delivered according to their system but if they have been put up on the website it usually means there will be some to sell.

I'd say it's unlikely they will have any but you never know! I'll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for a 32gb regardless.

I take it you work for HP?

any idea whether argos/JL/comet does need UK billing address?
if yes, I might go with the amazon offer ^_^
(US ebay offers with overseas shipping are just like the same money but amazon is more trustworthy as an itermediary)

it's 32G which is 115 firesale price ... yet too expensive :/

I am in the "I want to be in on a bargain" gang.

I honestly thought the ipad was the lamest thing I had ever seen when it was first announced. Up until this whole HP touch pad craze I still thought it was a waste of money.

I could think of hundreds of things I would rather spend £400 on. For me about £100 is the only price that is tempting and even then, deep down I am still a bit meh that it does not have 3g.

Just got the email of doom...

Dear Customer,

We regret to inform you that the order you placed for a Touchpad cannot be completed.

This offer was applicable to HP employees with a valid HP email address only.

Unfortunately, any rogue orders that have come through the other stores have had to be cancelled.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and please be assured that a full refund has been put in place.

Kind regards,

Anyone here clued up on distance selling regulations? I understand I have 7 working days to give notice of cancellation but do the goods also have to be returned in this time frame?

Cheers!

From CityLink tracking:-

Current Status: These goods have been successfully delivered.

Woot! Guess my neighbour was in today (or they've left it behind the bins!).

My postman always leaves packages in the bin when there's nobody home. :p

In that case, you can only hope that he knows on which day the "refuse disposal operatives" call then, or you could arrive home from work one day, only to find an empty bin awaiting you! ;)

It's kinda safe: they won't take the bins from the house; they need to be wheeled up onto the pavement. I don't think he would use them for mail if they were out for collection!

I just recieved the dreaded email from PCW stating my order has been cancelled. I could see it coming, but i'm pretty miffed it took them 5 days to decide they wouldn't have one coming to me, there were still 32gb models going for a few hours after I placed my order and I would have purchased one of those if I knew they had oversold.

I placed my order at roughly quarter past two so my order was in well before they removed the offer from the website.

Just had the same email

That's another company added to the list of never shop there.

That's the third place to cancel on me now.
