Poll: HP TouchPad - $99 in US - any sign of UK drop?

Resistive touchscreen, only 2900mah battery (touchpad has ~6000mah).

Hannspad can be had for £160 delivered, 1GHz tegra2, 512MB, 16GB, 3500mah.

Is the hannspad any good for the price and i take it the Hp touchpad is no longer available ?

Also are these still available in the us at a good price as i have friends over there ?

I don't have a hannspad, but AFAIK it's decent for the price.

There was supposed to be another batch of Touchpads heading for the US.

it can be modded to android 3.0 which is supposed to make it very good and fast

the mod they are working for the touchpad is only going to be android 2.3

i dont know what the difference is though tbh

3.0 is designed for tablets, 2.3 isn't.

Ice cream sandwich should be out soon (oct-nov) and I believe is the ultimate goal of CM on the touchpad. ICS is designed for phones and tablets.

i think the best thing is to just wait a couple of years. personally i dont really see the point in them unless you dont have a laptop or smartphone.

my pc is connected to my tv, so i can do everything off that.

in 2 years time there will be thousands to choose from, loads of competition, more mature OS's and mods. driving prices down loads. cpu's will be faster, ram will be higher, so will disk space be.

hp touchpad for £100 if you could have gotten it, would have been ideal. at current prices, it's still a good deal but not so much when you dont really need it.

i wanted one to be able to watch movies on the go and read books (pdf's) at home. both of which arent exactly major reasons to go out and buy one.

if your looking for a bargain the hannspad is £160 brand new and the touchpad is about £210 for the 32gb on ebay, no point in getting a 16gb on ebay as the 32gb can be had for like £20 more.

personally im going to wait a year and see what happens, unless a bargain comes up.

Because the HP Warranty is non transferable so if you buy from a retailer your fine, buy from another person HP will tell you to go hoop it for the warranty

iirc, phone hp, quote serial number, argue that i did not drop my touchpad (cracked speaker), box delivered by ups which they took the touchpad there and then, 8 days later new one turned up
