Also, with regards to the CPW, you've probably got a higher chance of getting a 32GB one (which is why I went for one) as most folk will go for the 16GB I imagine.

This is what I thought too, I went for the 32GB. I got a call from Barclaycard security asking if I'd made the transaction so looks like it's going through so far.

It's my dad's birthday in a few days and I was wondering what to get him - he loves gadgets so this could be the ideal present for him!

Just spoke to Carphonewarehouse sales, he said that they are showing minus stock meaning over allocation (-40 for 16Gb and -20 for 32GB). They can't confirm my order now until tomorrow. As warehouse and customer services etc.. are closed. He did say if you ordered on the phone you got a better chance.

If this is true, doesn't that mean that only 60 people will be disappointed?
