I cannot believe how it has completely and utterly disappeared from the HP UK web site. No promotional material left, despite it being sat on the front page of their site since it launched!

Absolute madness from HP IMO.

If this thing becomes available over here for £150 (16GB) then it is a fantastic deal. A Dual core tablet with a good quality screen and the possibility of running Android ?

Yes please.

Seemingly nothing.

Not a huge loss to be honest, I'd only ever really use it when I couldn't be bothered to switch on the laptop or desktop for tv :D

Interesting, but wouldn't that be classed as dumping then?

Yes. Hence, there is no way they are doing that. As soon as they start producing more units at marginal cost above $99 they'd get in trouble.

Also its a bizarre thing to do and would seriously anger shareholders. There's no reason to keep this supposed plan a secret. It would work even better surely if you didn't tell the world you were giving up on the OS.

edit: Although I don't know if this rule only applies under scenarios where there is a detriment to competition. It's unlikely for example to force Apple out of the tablet market.

Just ordered one from the US rainforest, used a forwarding & shipping firm that pre-pay customs. Assuming the order is shipped and not cancelled should come to around approx £115. Worth a punt. Also have a few reserved locally, can't see the prices dropping anything like as low as the US fire sale.

I can't seem to see it on there for that kind of price? Cheapest is $330.

Look like they came and went, only the supplier with stock shows along with their current price. I have a confirmed order for £63. Remains to be seen if it ships, but it's a big US seller so fingers crossed.

BTW, search for FB454UT
