I decided that simply purchasing on credit card from JL is the best way to alleviate this stress. They price match other store's prices even after purchase so I am sure that they will refund difference. If not, it gets returned.

If a lot of people do that then they wont be reduced

Actually I think it is a much better strategy than reserving ten across different stores which creates completely artificial demand.
Word of warning, a number of US stores decided to not honour their normal T&C's charging full price with no after purchase discount and refusing returns related to tablets.

I don't know the ins and outs of the DSA but I assume that has us covered?

Plus Distance Selling Regulations are watertight:

Consumers have a cooling-off period of seven working days in which to cancel the contract, starting from when the goods are received, without having to give a reason. If no details of the cooling-off period have been given by the supplier to the consumer, it is extended to three months.

The right to withdraw can be exercised by the consumer even after the goods have been delivered, or the services have been provided. The consumer is entitled to receive a full refund for a cancelled contract within 30 days.

There are some exceptions to these rights of cancellation, including:

contracts for the provision of accommodation, transport, catering or leisure services, where these services are supplied on a specific date or for a specific period
the sale of customised goods or perishable goods
sealed audio or video recordings, or software, which have been opened
sales by auction

As there is no restocking fee and goods can be handed back to store, there is zero risk of being out of pocket. Albeit they may simply accept the return rather than offer a refund of the difference and I may end up with no Touchpad.

They only price match stores with stock - Id be amazed knowing how their price match works that theyd find a local store with firesale Touchpads still in stock to match against...
