**HTC HD2 Thread**

I just phoned Vodaphone up as I can get an upgrade. They said "The HTC does'nt pass Quality control at Vodafone.

Anyway, I can buy out of my contract for £67.33 and want to get the htc HD2. Whos got the best deal out their at the moment? also whats the routine for keeping the current number. chap at vodaphone mentioned a PAC code.

Can someone give me any advice?. Thanks

edit - Right as i understand, Buy a new phone which the supplier can accept a PAC code. Then contact vodafone and ask for the PAC code which can take upto 48hours.
Then phone new supplier and give them the PAC code.

Done. am I right?

so whats the best deal? must have around 300 - 600 minutes, not bothered about txts. and must have mobile internet unlimited. To buy the HD2 outright then get a £20 sim only from vodafone? some advice much needed!

Lol. the ONLY network Phones4U offer the HD2 on is Vodafone, lol.

You are correct with the PAC code. You get the code from your current network, give it to your new one, and within a few days they port your number accross and your new contract gets your old number.

As for networks. There are a lot of deals about but the most common and I think best is from TMobile (and I think Vodaphone too) that is £35 a month, 600-700 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. There are alternatives that have unlimited mins and a limit on texts too, and then phone is free. Mobile Phones Direct are a good start.

trust me, on the phone with vodafone twice tonight. they DONT do the HD2!

I dont understand it either, obviously you cant get it direct.

My phone is having a rough time. Two weeks ago I dropped it in the snow (whilst it was in its sleeve) and I just popped it back into my pocket thinking it was alright. When I got home i placed it on the table and noticed it had gone into 'Car mode', and I couldn't get out of it so I restarted the phone. The same problem occurred. Then I figured that it must recognise it is in car mode by something being plugged in and forming a circuit in the power port, so I checked the port and there was a pool of water in there! Turned off the phone and let it dry out, and fortunately it doesn't appear to have caused any permanent damage.

Later today I managed to spill over half a mug of cup-a-soup onto it at work, whilst it was in its sleeve, but some seeped in through the end. Fortunately it survived that as well!

BlackDragon, I've reported you to the RSPHD2. They'll be round later to collect the HD2 and offer you a fast track training course in caring for your HD2.

Can't find any decent games for it :( the ones available on the sites i can find are rubbish ones. Even the paid for ones look pretty poor.

Anyone got a list of the games they have so i can at least know what i'm missing out on please?

I have:

Monopoly Here & Now
Oregon Trail
Tower Defense
Guitar Hero 5 Mobile
Pocket Mini Golf 2
Prison Tycoon
Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty

Enough to keep me occupied.

I've currently got some OpenGL ones installed:

Experiment 13
Xtrakt

And "normal" games:

Teeter (stock HTC game)
Resco Bubbles (similar to Teeter really)
Resco Snake (like snake, but uses the G-Sensor)
Sudoku Touch (haha lame!)
Resco Diamonds
Electopia (demo)
Galaxyhopper
Morphgear (multi-platform emulator)
Minigolf 2
Peggle

There's quite a big selection out there really, but there also seems to be a lot of god-awful Java based games as well (which I avoid like the plague).

Is CorePlayer the only option? i.e. is there anything else that is free?

I use Coreplayer as it handles any SD avi file with no hassles, and I've been using it for years as my mp3 player.

HTC Album does a better job of HD encoded to 800x480 mp4s due to supporting hardware acceleration, but lacks the extra options that Coreplayer has.

I hope Coreplayer 2 does eventually come out with HA support.

The free version of Kinoma is a bit pants so far. Mp3s are fine, but won't play my Psych avis, and wants me to get the paid for version to view wmv or h.264

I'll stick to Coreplayer.

Forgive me for not reading all of the posts before asking a question, I got as far as page 4 lol.

I'm wondering how many iPhone users have changed to one of these and what they prefer? I have a 3G iphone and my contract expires at the end of this month, and I'm looking at these HD2s - they do look amazing.

Is this an iPhone beater?

Games i've got on at the min are;

Asphalt 4
Prince of Persia HD (which for some weird reason doesn't run full screen)
COD MW2
Guitar Hero 5 Mobile
Assassins Creed 2
Earthworm Jim
MorphGear (SNES emulator, but not put any games on yet)

Check out the XDA forums, people link to games on there all the time. I'll email you the site i got the games from if you want.

I had a look on the XDA forums but the ones i wanted didn't have any links. If you could email me your source i'd appreciate it.

Also, does anyone know if you can download songs directly from the Amazon MP3 store onto your phone, as when i try to buy some, it says i need to download the special Amazon downloader, compatible with XP, Vista and 7. It doesn;t say anything about directly from your phone. But in the Music program on the phone, there is a link to buy from the Music Store.
Also, is there anyway to change the site where this links to as it opens up the American Amazon site by default.

Cheers

Well I've had iPhone for last couple of years the hd2 is a fantastic phone I love it but I would have to say for navigation and typing the iPhone wins hands down but for browsing then hd2 is awesome with it's big screen there are a few niggles like volume slider works when it wants also the most annoying is when your Reading a post with more than 1 page it can be a pain to hit the right page number
