**HTC HD2 Thread**

Yep, just plays the sound once for me. So say the sound is 1seconds long, it will sound for 10 seconds and that would be it.

Tried all of the sounds and they only play once.:(

Well just checked and you are right, it does only play for 10 seconds - this happens to be the time it takes for me to turn and switch the alarm off so never noticed before! Had a quick look on xda, plenty of threads on it, there is a workaround suggested in here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605306&highlight=alarm

Thanks. Didn't see that thread :o

Have downloaded the free version of G-Alarm 1.5.1 i think. and that seems to repeat until you stop it :)

Thanks for the help :D

Back for more help! :(

Got an MMS earlier and it says I need to download it. Fair enough...

Hit download and get:

Message size is more than the configured limit. Do you want to download? Yes/No

Obviously hit yes at this point but then it says:

'unable to download'

Any ideas? :)

Well I've had iPhone for last couple of years the hd2 is a fantastic phone I love it but I would have to say for navigation and typing the iPhone wins hands down but for browsing then hd2 is awesome with it's big screen there are a few niggles like volume slider works when it wants also the most annoying is when your Reading a post with more than 1 page it can be a pain to hit the right page number

That's what styluses were invented for...:p

And one of the reasons i'm still umming and arring about getting one, the capacitive screen.:(

Cool thanks for the info. Yeah I watched a 45min walkthrough on youtube (yeah I'm sad haha) and the IE app didn't look all that good at all.

The thing that concerns me the most is the app store - I'm used to apple's and love it. Also, multimedia - I like how the iPhone is also a gloryfied iPod and can be controlled by my car stereo. I'd miss this as well as the fact that you have to control the music from player app - there's no way that I'm aware of the control the music from the home screen like with the iPhone's home button double tap feature.

You could bind one of the hardware keys to the player tab on a double press and such if you want.

I've just flashed my first cooked ROM for this, Pandora 1.1, liking so far :D

Has anyone had a go trying to download songs direct from the Music Store in the Music Player software?

Automatically links to the .com Amazon site and i am sure you need a piece of Amazon software to download songs. If so, it is a bit silly having the Amazon Store come up when you press Shop Music Store.

Is there anyway to change this to .co.uk or even Play.com so that i can download straight to the phone?

Cheers

Ah cool, didn't realised you could do that.

Are the HD2s WM7 or WM6.5?

Youve done what to your ROM? What's Pandora and what have you done?

HD2s come with 6.5 as standard, WM7 isn't out year, though the rumour is that the HD2 will get an upgrade, like the TP2 did for WM6.1 to 6.5.

Either way, cooked WM7 ROMs will eventually appear, and we can stick it on unofficially.

Pandora is the name of a ROM made by a chef on XDA-devs. It's tweaked out the box, and has performance gains over the stock HTC ROMs you get.

Sorry to be such a noob, but what are ROMs? And what is a cooked ROM?

S'alright ;)

A ROM is like a version of an OS.

The official HTC ROMs are like retail version of Windows that you would buy for your pc.

'Cooking' a ROM is when a developer (chef) decompiles the base ROM data and builds their own tweaked version of the OS. They can choose various settings that would normally be edited manually in the registry to be out the box settings, remove or add applications, and generally make the OS work how they want it to.

It's still early days for HD2 ROMs, but now that HSPL exists for it (A way to allow the phone to have cooked ROMs flashed to it), things will pick up.

There are a bunch of ROMs to try out, and I'm using Pandora 1.1, which has significant speed increases over the stock HTC 1.48 ROM.

So in a way its like adding a custom jailbreak to an iPhone?

I guess HTC/MS aren't keen on it?

No, Jailbreaking only allows you to install non apple approved applications. A Custom ROM allows for much more tweaking and customisation.

I doubt MS care, as long as the Device gets bought and people use Windows Mobile they'll be happy. It will void your warranty however. If you need to send the unit back you can always return it to stock, unless you totally brick it :p

I guess so.

As for HTC and MS, well, having a cooked ROM voids warranty, and if you brick the phone then tough poop, but if you have a cooked rom and say need to send the phone in under warranty because of a dodgy key, you can always flash back to an official ROM and remove HSPL, send it back, get it repaired, then put HSPL and a cooked ROM on again, lol.

I've been flashing multiple ROMs on all my phones since my XDA Mini S back in 2006. :)

Good thing you can buy a Capacitive Stylus :)

You can but they are nowhere near as accurate, although HTC did file a Patent recently for a resistive accurate capacitive stylus.

Also I like to use my fingernails (they really aren't long!) and wear gloves when using my phone (on the slopes) and short of buying specific gloves you can't do that with capacitive either. Why HTC didn't stick with the same resistive screen as the HD I don't know (just in case people don't know the HD resistive screen was hailed as being almost as sensitive as the iPhones capacitive screen in the reviews, not like normal *press* and flex resistive screens).

Still want the HD2 damn it.:p
