**HTC HD2 Thread**

... I'm pretty sure there's more apps for Windows Mobile than any other app store. They just aren't centralised thus making it impossible to find what you're looking for.

.. I think my statement might be wrong (i prefer outdated :)) Nevertheless, there's still an abundance of winmo apps out there.

By the time the apps for winmo7 come good, chances are you're contract would have expired. The app store for winmo7 won't be anywhere near a decent standard till 2+ years.

Google is a little tool that you can use for finding WinMo apps........

my contract ends Sunday and i am seriously considering one of these phones.

i can get it for free with my contract so money isn't a problem.

how good is this hd2 compared to the i phone ?

ill be upgrading from a blackberry 8110.

any input from people who have this would be gratefully appreciated.

These phones are completely different.

Spec wise, the HD2 is FAR superior, 4.3" screen, 1ghz Snapdragon Processor, 512mb Ram, 480x800 res. Running the TouchFlo 3D interface.

Best thing to do mate is check out Youtube videos of the phone. This will give you a clear overview of the OS and Hardware.

It is a lovely looking phone and Touchflow 3D is wonderful. It's just a shame it's stuck with winmo6.5 FOREVER!

Urgh, for the fifteenth billionth time, WinMo 7 will be cooked for the HD2. You can get Android on the HD2. Enough said.

I'd be interested to see where you get this info from. HTC said yes, and Microsoft are now saying no.

I know you could probably get the rom onto it, but surely it's going to be buggy as hell.

It wasn't just the Inquirer. Other techy sites covered the news as well. It seems as though it's a true quote.

I think he means it will be on there, but not an official release.

Hell, i even run Android on my Omnia :p

People will make it happen unofficially.

Without straying too far down a road that might get me a forum holiday, is there any specific benefit to installing cooked ROMs? This phone isn't handicapped in the same way as an iPhone that needs j/bing is it?

The reason I ask is because I have been downloading loads of cabs of the xdadevelopers site and wonder if most are intended for cooked ROMs. Also want to install TCPMP for playing divx, etc but has same shady history so again wasn't sure if official ROMs would allow it.

Depends on what ROM you get, but they'll generally be 'lite' versions - less pre-installed useless apps, faster core/boot speed, more storage space etc. For me, the storage space and auto-install folders sold my one to me (Duttys).

I may still go down the cooked ROM route but am just serving out my 28 days cool-off period. Don't seem to have any lazy/dead pixels on this one thankfully. *touch wood*
