**HTC HD2 Thread**

Yeah tbh I'm looking for some apps the same way android or apple's app store provides...

Can anyone guide me on where I should be looking for cool apps?

I have it, works a charm. When I plug the phone in via USB I get three options - Active Sync, File Transfer or Internet Sharing. When you choose net sharing it works instantly without any setting up on the laptop. An absolute godsend!

That's great news. Will ditch my usb modem once my contract runs out. I rarely use more than 100-200mb a month.

Can you still take a call/receive a call while you're using the HD2 as a modem?

Scour the XDA-developers forums, and google.

There is oodles of WM software out there, it's just not all centralised like Apple's.

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of ordering a HD2 from MPD. I've just had a phone call off them saying they have run out of stock this morning, and are due to get some more in on Thursday or Friday. Said they would be out of stock lol, but i can wait a couple more days.

If i was u i wouldnt order a phone from there.
i got a HTC HD2 and in 12 days developed a fault. emailed mpd
they sent a email back and said because the phone ws bought over the internet and is older than 7 days i have to deal direct with HTC. sent loads of emails because this is not right and they have ignored all of them .
including regulations on buying mobile phones from gov. they ignored that.
will never buy from MPD EVER AGAIN. called vodaphone and there dealing with it now as its on there contract. MPD will be getting contacted by vodaphone as they said there not dealing with warantees as they should. just thought i would let u know.

here is website stating i should not be dealing direct with HTC.

The trader must sort out your problem, not the manufacturer
Remember, if you are entitled to a refund, replacement, repair or compensation, it is the trader who must sort out your problem. The trader cannot tell you to go back to the manufacturer or to claim through a guarantee or warranty.

Ah this is the setting that everyone gets wrong and there is a 3 second delay if you set it as the following.....

Vibrate THEN Ring, it vibrates first and the ringtone kicks in after 3 seconds....

Vibrate AND Ring, does exactly what it should right away :D

It's strange there is two settings but hey if you select the right one there is no problems :)

Oh yeah Russ 1.48 is great so far and no text problems....yet....*touch wood*

Interesting but even setting it to vibrate and ring at the same time i still got the 3 sec delay.

Best way to test to see if the phone has it is by giving yourself a missed call ie let it ring once from the phone you are ringing and see if the HD2 rings or doesnt do anything....ill be trying it out on my dads HD2 when i see him next week....perhaps they have fixed that issue now.

Hmmm now that worries me a little. I was going to order one some time next week from MPD and not direct from T-Mobile as it works out £40 cheaper plus you get 3 months free insurance, but that has got me wondering if it might be worth taking the hit for better piece of mind with regards to warranty and returns?

From what I can remember HTC offers a 2 year warrenty on their phones, so normally you can sign up onto their support page and should be able to file a claim there.

Now there seem to have been concerns over the battery life of the handset and Iwould like to allay those fears for potential customers :) after a full charge from 6am yesterday I am sittin at 18% today :) this includes internet and music use, calls and lots of texting! What HTC have sorted out is a phenomenal idle mode for the phone, the battery barely drops 3% for me when not used overnight and that is fantastic tbh :P

I made some changes.to the way I've been typing as suggested in XDA Developers top tips and its made the phone even more of a joy to use :) I will link that page later as some of the tips are great.

What I will say however is 1.48 is not officially signed so it can prove a long and frustrating process to put on the handset. When official updates begin to appear it will be much easier to install :)

I'm sticking to traditional mode for textin just now but if it stops sending, reboot, send a new text to ANOTHER number (even your own) and it should get things going again :) Not ideal but it does seem to be only Vodafone who are struggling with this :(

That is somewhat concering regarding MPD. I didn't take the 3 months insurance as i'm getting from a third party, but i'll register it with HTC as well if u get 2 years warranty. I didn't go direct to T-Mobile as the phone was free from MPD but would have cost me a fair whack from T-Mobile.

Cheers Leaskovski, yes I was aware of the HTC warranty, just a bit disappointed with MPD's '7 days then wash our hands of it' approach. Still I guess with a combination of insurance + manufacturers warranty I 'should' be ok.

Top Ringtone MP3 Tip

Hey guys,

Thought I would provide you with a top tip to set Ringtones from MP3 files you have on your phone :)

Hit the Start Menu > Multimedia > MP3 Trimmer

Using the MP3 Trimmer program load up your selected MP3 file, mines was from the Storeage Card, and it should play no problem in the program.

At this point you can now determine both the Start Point and the End Point, I used I'm On A Boat by the Lonely Island and set to the first 33 seconds which covers my phone going to Voicemail.

Then when you are happy with the length of the file tap Menu>Set as Default Ringtone :)

That would be you sorted, no point saving it as the Default Ringtone option sets it right up for you.

Hope that helps some and means no file conversion ;)

Cheers for the tips jrodga2k5, keep them coming :D Just wondering if it would be worth someone starting a new thread regarding WinMo tips and tricks, and stuff like apps etc. Just gives a centralised place for us to share free and paid apps etc.

Yes, would definitely be a good thing to have winmo apps in a single thread. It'll make life easier when we get the phone and start downloading like mad!

Mine should be arriving tomm. Managed to get a free handset on O2 :D Cant wait.

Also, where's the best place to download apps or websites for winmo?

What's going on with o2? I phoned them last week and they said call again this week. I called again today and they said it's in-store only. What?

Was looking at this phone for my upgrade as I'm due one soon (now) - had a call from Vodafone though saying that they were no longer selling this phone due to issues?
