**HTC HD2 Thread**

How long does it take to boot the phone from off into android ?

I'm trying to work out if it's worth me buying an HD2 if I can use android on it as my daily phone. Will the bugs drive me mad ?

Bluetooth isn't 100%.
Battery life is lower than usual; I'm finding I'm having to charge every 2 days.
The alarm doesn't work properly.

These are my main gripes. Booting isn't a problem, it takes less than 30 seconds.

How on earth are you getting it to last 2 days? Even on winmo I'd never get more than a day and a bit.

I can get to two days pretty easily with lowish usage. I'm on 74% now (took it off charge at 100% at 8.30am this morning) and have made a few calls, took a picture and sent 10 texts as well as the usual stuff like email download every 30 minutes and weather/stocks/twitter every 3 hours.

I've not had alarm problems with MattC's build.

Hi guys, I have some android related questions that I can't find definitive help with on XDA, was hoping someone here could help :)

I am currently running dutty 1.66, with a 2.04.5 radio and 1.42 HSPL.
I tried to run the HSPL 2 installer app, it restarted my phone to the 4 colourer bars screen but then timed out. I'm terrified of bricking my phone :S

The android thread says I need to update my radio, and for that I need to update the HSPL version, but I'm just not 100% certain what I need to do. Do I need to remove the HSPL i have first? Should I revert to an HTC build and start fresh (if so, how?).

Much appreciate any assistance, I really want to try android! :)

No need to remove your current version of HSPL or do anything as drastic as reverting to a stock build. You can just upgrade HSPL straight over the version you already have (I went from 1.42 HSPL2 to 2.08 HSPL3).

Not sure why it timed out when you tried this before though, give the HSPL3 installer a try. Then just stick the radio on (most people seem to be using 2.12 now) and you are ready to go :)

I've not had alarm problems with MattC's build.

Same here, alarm seems to be working fine with MattC.

Is the MattC build a stock 2.2 Froyo build? I'm not a fan of skinned stuff.

It is a Froyo + Sense build.

Cheers Meanboy, been using rockplayer and seems to be playing everything so far just fine - pesky watermark in the corner but I guess you have to buy the full version to get rid of it.

Just tried the HSPL3 package on another pc and get a different message, RAPI.dll not found, anyone have any thoughts on this?

Edit: Ah, more digging on XDA suggests its part of activesync. Updated that and now have installed 2.08.0000 (hope that's right)!

Do I need to upgrade from Duttys 1.66?

What Android build are people using?

I was using Darkstone's build but I might try MattC's when I get home from work. I just set it up how I like it as well :(

I've got all my contacts on Google contacts so hopefully they have synced properly. AppBrain should make things easier with reinstalling all my apps.

Thought I'd give it (darkstone) another go and I'm impressed. If they can get the battery consumption to give me at least a day then I'd make the swap for sure.

Which one are you using now Clown? Updating the radio is the only bit that worries me. Is it easy to do? Can it be undone if the phone needs to be repaired as I heard it voids the warranty.

Surely the battery issue must be down to running the OS from the SD card isn't it? Wouldn't that change once they manage to create a true ROM build?

Andy - yes it is easy to do and yes it can be undone for warranty purposes. Just read the stickies on XDA, all the information is there.
