HTC Touch Diamond, New Flagship Model...

Space isn't the issue, it's the interface.

With my current E650, I take out the micro-sd card, put it into the USB adaptor, and plug in to my pc and a window pops open, allowing me to quickly copy whatever music/movies/shows I want.

The Diamond will force me to use Activesync to send data, and it is VERY slow :(

Has a mass storage mode, just plug in and the 4gb is a drive.

I have used one as I work in the phone industry, granted it was a protype but the software was very buggy.

Ahhh ok, i suppose it would be buggy if it was a prototype unit...well like i said ill wait for some proper reviews before actually deciding on whether to go with the X1 or the Diamond. One thing i like about the Diamond is the small and thin size of it...looking at the X1, it seems like a pretty long and large unit...which is another thing that could put me off buying one. One thing i dont like is having bricks in my pockets:p.

Also the lack of a decent on-screen keyboard a-la iPhone in Windows is a major drawback to any PDA phone without a QWERTY keyboard imo.

I'll wait for iPhone v2, the new HTC Raphael, or the Xperia X1 methinks.

Funnily enough from what ive been reading the on screen keyboard works brilliantly well...and the touch screen is an absolute joy to use.

But then some people arent as fussy as others....as for me??, ive bought one so am just waiting for delivery of it...hopefully be with me in the next few days and then ill be able to make a better decision as to whether its a good device or another flawed device....but a few people already have them and have said its a great unit.

No it doesn't.

If you watch the video/do some research you'll find that it really doesn't.

Mines ready to go on the plane!!

Got the phone this evening. It is so small and light. Just charging...

Good to hear, let us know how u get on with it etc.

Lots of people been complaining about a certain Manchester based phone place thats been importing these from HK and selling them as UK spec when in reality they arent. Extremely naughty of this company to do this, importing grey items and selling them as UK spec...i guess they didnt learn the last time when they were fined a lot of money for importing HP PDAs from Malaysia and selling them as UK spec models. Also be aware that HTC wont honour the warranty of grey items, what i mean is that if your phone develops a fault then you will have to send it back to where you got it from...neither will they support any updates etc, you will have to register on the HK HTC site if im not mistaken. That was straight from HTC, who i rung this morning to clarify the warranty situation on these grey imports. I really feel sorry for the people who have paid well over the odds, £500 for what is an essentially a non uk spec phone. This retailer has definitely lost my business forever plus if you look hard enough, you can pick them up for a lot cheaper than £500.

Because of that, ive cancelled my order with them and will wait for 'proper' uk stock to come in...hopefully by next week they will be available. Also just wanted to point out that the official uk stock was meant to be released this week but HTC have held them back saying theres a software issue that needs to be resolved. As of yet no one really knows what it is etc.

Got mine stright from HK £394 inc delivery. Very happy. Sold my Ameo for a great price. Not bothered TBH about it being GREY.
What's your verdict on the Diamond, Spit? I've had one on pre-order for a while, but as a long-term Windows Mobile user I have to admit to be finally considering a jump to the new iPhone.

It is awesome! I have had windows phones and PDA's since the black and white screen days of the philips NINO!

It is very small and light. The screen res is gorgeous, I cannot see the pixels they are that fine. It looks like paper.

It takes a bit of getting used to with the front end but im getting there.

I havnt had a lot of time to set it up yet so its still fairly basic. I will be loading my software up over the next few days.

But so far no major flaws.

Any other questions, fire away.

Quick question that I would appreciate an answer to very much as it may sway whether I buy this or not. Is it capable of WPA-2 Enterprise encryption on the WiFi? My uni requires that encryption to get onto its network so its something I kind of need.

Went around a few phone shops the other day and none of them have exact release dates as of yet for the phone being available with a contract.

Cheers

There was a review posted up about how slow the phone is to use, is it really slow ?? I was going to replace my HTC Trinity (M700) with this but was a bit dubious about it because of the review.
