HTC Touch Diamond, New Flagship Model...

you'd be suprised

Used one, still prefer Windows Mobile interface, Push, Office Mobile and ActiveSync is mainly why, I understand you can get some incarnation of these features, but I have been a WM user since the first XDA, and don't want a device which is unsupported by our company.

iPhone might look god, but I have never bought a phone for its looks...

And if you're prepared to wait for that you might as well wait a bit longer to see what the Sony Xperia X1 will be like :)

No not really for me personally... the Xperia is a lot chunkier, has a weaker camera (and no xenon flash), and I think the battery life will be considerably worse due to the much higher res screen. The Omnia looks like the sweet spot for me. :)

I have to agree with you on the Xperia - the styling just doing do it for me. I expected something better when I first heard that Sony were working on a Windows Mobile device.

The Omnia looks like an interesting device, but the styling and imminent availability of the Diamond are key factors in my purchase decision i.e. it looks great and I want one now, dammit :)

What has the faster CPU, the Xperia or HTC Touch Diamond?
Some info here - they are both clocked @ 528 Mhz. Just read that the lower revision MSM7200a in the Xperia is possibly better than the MSM7201a in the Diamond though...

One more thing to note is that Xperia X1 has a better CPU platform - that is the MSM7200a compared to MSM7201a used in diamond, don't be misleaded with the index increase as the latter has a weaker video driver that is not capable of recording VGA30fps video but instead stucked at QVGA 24fps only. X1 has an edge when it comes to video recording(VGA@ 30fps) thanks to the better 7200a platform. even the newly announced HTC rafael(uses MSM7201a as well) cannot match X1 in vide recording quality.
That last quote is from a comment on this post.

Thanks

So is the HTC Rafael the flagship WM device from HTC? I am tempted by the Xperia due to the screen size, I am not too bothered about video quality etc, as I use my phone vastly for Push, Office, Internet, Windows Live and GPS. Don't usually take pictures with the phone unless it's a MMS to my partner ;)

My Diamond is hopefully on it's way, so I should have it on Monday. The latest devices (i.e. UK stock rather than grey imports) are also reported to have a new ROM build (dated June 10th) that is faster and more stable.

Just got the missus a diamond. Lovely handset. She is very happy with it. The haptics for the free ball game are amazing it really feels like a ball bearing hitting the sides of the screen.

Any news when this will show up on orange?

Probably next month as Tmobile will probably be carrying it as well...definitely by August i would imagine.

Got my Diamond on Sat and i have to say what an awesome little phone it is. It has the new updated and better rom than the grey imports had/have. Still has its own fair share of problems...for me the touch screen just isnt responsive enough but im getting used to it. The only major problem i have with it so far is that they put a crappy 900mah battery in there:eek:...which is simply not enough to make this phone work for a full day with everything on. Quite a shame though but there will be an extended battery released soon but again it might increase the dimensions of the phone itself:(.

All in all quite a stunning phone...still not 100% ill keep it...havent really had much of a chance to play with it since i got it and plus the battery died out on me yesterday so tonight ill be playing around with it quite a bit to see if ill keep it or not.

why on earth have everything on all day anyway?
if you dont need BT and wifi on, turn it off!!

Ermm they are off...but quite simply the battery on this phone is absolute rubbish...god only knows why HTC decided to a stupid nokia ie they put a low capacity battery in the first n95.

Other than that the phone is great...absolutely loving it...
