HTC Vive to cost $799?

A few years down the line the for me. By then the price will have dipped as that’s just too steep for what I’m after just to play the odd game.

Wish it was cheaper but the fact is this is brand new cutting edge technology, and it always starts expensive. Will probably have to wait a couple of years before I make the jump into VR - but looking forward to the technology developing :D

I may have to pair my i7 with my 980ti

What score do you get in Firestrike? You're right, clock speeds look ok.

I'll do a benchmark when I get back from work. From what I gather about 'fidelity' now is that it lowers the image quality on the fly if the fps drops below a certain threshold. Which is fair enough but seeing that 380's are hitting the Ready level yet in-game a 290 is much faster than 380 I don't quite understand.

I got the 'Ready' result, although only just.

I was pleasantly surprised at that.

My system isn't that high spec though I've been building it up on the cheap with a view to getting a VR headset. I'll be increasing memory to 16gb, adding some USB3 slots in the short term and will upgrade my graphics card in about 6 months when the new release card prices have settled down a bit.

But it seems like my 290 will let me explore VR if I do buy a headset (which I probably will - and probably a Vive).

My only reservation now is that I want to try one before I buy (either a Rift or a Vive). Not sure how I can do that though...

The Vive only needs a single USB2.0 port :)

What drivers are you on with your 290? Also are you using the Crimson software?

Well that was a leap.

Just happened to Reset Graphics settings in Crimson and also the Shader Cache just below it and and seemed to do the trick
