HTC Vive

Still no shipping e-mail. I guess tomorrow is looking unlikely.

Only thing I'm hoping is that they have shipped them already (from Czech?) to hold in a UK depot and will be out for delivery tomorrow, but yeah, looking slim.

Surely some people are bound to get them tomorrow in the EU, and as far as I an tell nobody at all has had anything yet.

Apparently someone from the IOM received their shipping notification for a delivery Wednesday. Hopefully more will arrive today, and being mainland UK, could arrive on Tuesday.

Ever the optimist lol.

Edit: No, they didn't lol. Was for something else.

Arghh.. stilll no attempt to retake payment.

Finally got through to a chat support rep, said that HTC will be contacting me again today. I really hope so...

Didn't trust the chat support, so just rang up now. Spoke to the general HTC support and they have escalated my situation for someone to call me back. Hopefully this will happen ASAP!

Some people reporting now after speaking to HTC chat support that the Vive's will not be released from UK Depot until Thursday for delivery by the end of the week. If that's the case, it's some what disappointing.

That said, the amount of different information coming from HTC chat support, hard to tie down what is accurate and what isn't lol.

Anyone found out where the UK pre orders are being shipped from yet?

Apparently they're in Shannon (Ireland). Mate of mine knows a guy that works down there, and said there is a load of them sitting in a warehouse, have been there a few days already reportedly :\

First Review: https://www.destructoid.com/review-htc-vive-352103.phtml

I've used the Vive for the better part of two weeks now as a daily part of my routine and I've not once experienced motion sickness, fatigue or eye strain. I have instead experienced gaming in a form that's more exciting than anything else I have played in some time. I've used it for work, for gaming, for movies and for everything in between.

VR is here, and I have been sold as a believer. While the Oculus is a very strong VR headset, the Vive feels like it's in a league of its own comparatively. The big sticking issue is how the market reacts to the price long term, and if development of new games maintains a consistent pace
.

And...

The ability to see your keyboard and mouse via camera feed without taking my headset off, as well as the absense of Oculus weird nose gap, for me made the Vive a considerably better VR platform of choice for seated play.

Oh and...

If you have the space for it, for my money, the HTC Vive blows the Oculus out the water as a long term investment.

Note: [While a retail HTC Vive headset was due to be provided by HTC for testing, this unfortunately did not arrive before the retail launch of the device. Our review is based on extensive time with a Vive Pre, the development version of the headset, loaned by a third party in order to ensure our review was timely.] Odd. Could have just waited but wanted to be first out i guess.

Thanks, it's kinda reassuring they are not too far away then. Hopefully HTC are just holding back on dispatch so they all arrive on 5th.

Someone on Reddit has just posted they have shipping info. and are based in France.

EU may have lift off...

Looks like a few people have started receiving tracking notifications in Europe now from different counties, Italy, Austria, Germany, so still hope yet.

According to Reddit, they are sitting in Ireland waiting, so even with a shipment today I wouldn't expect them until Wednesday at the earliest.

The ireland facebook office is just that, an office. The ones for most of europe are coming out of the netherlands or germany, when i got my DK2 it came from within the UK

It makes no sense whatsoever to ship out of ireland where a tiny fraction of their orders will have come from

Facebook and Oculus are registered in ireland for tax dodging purposes

There is also a good reason that UK orders may not ship from mainland Europe, simply down to our plugs, and makes sense to have a load of stock in Ireland purely for the UK market.

Except it's not the first review, because that is for the Vive-pre, of which there have already been 100s of reviews.

Jelly!

I wasn't fussed but my work diary just freed up for the next 2 weeks so have come across an abundance of time. And typically I cannot get through to someone. So far I have:

- Left a contact note on the web
- Called CS in USA
- Called CS in UK
- Called Digital River directly and got someone's personal voicemail
- Mailed DR

I also went ahead and paid for another order with paypal on saturday but got flung in the May slot.

Seeing more and more people from around Europe getting their shipping notifications. Still nothing for UK at the moment. Appears only those who paid with PayPal are getting the shipping notifications too.

The ones getting the notifications are hearing Thursday 7th for delivery, which is somewhat disappointing considering the shipping charges for express delivery.
