Well that blows. Just phoned DHL. Due to the bank holiday they never bothered to deliver my headset. Thanks for telling me. Despite having 3 emails and 2 texts saying it'll be delivered Tuesday.
So, another day off work, lets see what happens.
Anybody got elite dangerous working on the Vive yet?
I loaded it up and it looked hideous
The camera issue will most likely just be USB port compatibility and sometimes software such as the Razer Synapse. In fact just uninstall any software that may be interfacing with a USB device apart from Steam VR of course!
Yes if t's not a native VR title then you have to force the game to run in 3D using VorpX or Vereio Perception (Vive support imminent).
There are also some standalone solutions using various methods such as Minecraft using Python/Java libraries. Minecraft once setup and working is a great example of a how a open environment can work.

Just tried Elite (couldn't resist). If that is buggy/lower res atm then I can not wait for the good version. WOW.
I've looked at Elite Dangerous in a graphics debugger in the past, which allowed me to find out what the real issues are. So let me set the record straight here:
Elite Dangerous is rendering at the full recommended resolution (1512x1680), the resolution in the settings is ignored for VR.
The text on the in-game UI is unreadable because it isn't being scaled correctly, causing aliasing artifacts. The further away you are from the text, the worse these artifacts become.
The text scales just as bad on the Rift and on your Desktop monitor, but they are less affected due to their higher PPI and lower FOV.
The text is being scaled incorrectly because text is being rendered to a huge texture without generating mipmaps. This is a bug, because the texture filter they're using expects mipmaps.
Supersampling partially works around this bug by rendering everything to a larger texture, reducing the aliasing artifacts in the UI textures. But that only partially solves the problem and comes at a huge cost in performance.
tl;dr Frontier needs to fix a bug with their UI text and then text will be more readable on all platforms, even your desktop monitor. They're probably already aware of the issue though, as they've said they have some aliasing tweaks incoming.
Camera is working now, Was playing budget cuts demo on steam AMAZING!!
It might be the best game there is once its a full game. When is the release meant to be. A full on 30 levels with addons and user created content..sounds good to me.

Oh No! They’re using DHL!! DHL are a disaster here, I had a delivery from them last week, they rang me to say nobody was home and they were leaving it in the green bin. Except there was someone at home and they left it in the bin of completely the wrong house! When I rang him back he said he was miles away now, so you know, nothing he could do… They don’t seem to bother with signatures either. If they do that with my Vive, it doesn’t bear thinking about.
I turned of SLI and it was nut better ... Looks amazing
