HTC Vive

Anybody using a HDMI splitter for their Vive?.

I currently use HDMI from Graphics card to AV Amp, pass through to Monitor so I get full Digital Audio for Elite Dangerous etc.
PlayStation also connected to AV Amp with HDMI as I use that on Monitor also.

So just wondering if a HDMI splitter would work for Vive so Monitor and Vive both work and I retain full Digital Audio for speakers and Audio for Vive's headphone jack.

May end up not using headphones anyway if it is to much faff, just go Display port to Vive box.

ON my machine (which i trust is the same for everyone) the Vive is treated as a second 'monitor' you still get your window desktop on your main screen then VR on the HMD, so unless steam has some hidden setting then no a splitter won't work.

Thanks for reply, guess it will be Display port to Vive Box and no audio on its headphone jack then.

Pity Graphics cards only ever seem to have one HDMI, although I did see one that had an extra internal HDMI port specifically for VR so its lead could connect to a front port on PC.

More likely July, my brother and I went for demo there Bank Holiday Monday.

We asked and they said likely back to July now, ordered anyway.

I wish I could test one nearby. Think I'll just bite the bullet and go for it hoping the talks of low resolution or blurry images as exaggerated. Then when the time comes I'll upgrade the 290 to something a little more deserving of the Vive.

It's not exaggerated. I always knew it were going to be low res and have some screen door effect but I forget about them in literally 1 minute of playing.

The blurry view/ultra small sweetspot is true though and my only gripe about the Vive.

The good news is though, even with these downfalls, again, it just doesn't matter because the rest of it is so good :)

Anyone else have headset not found (208) issues?

I seem to play for a day, shut my pc down, come back to it the next and the headset is stuck on a red led and SteamVR refuses to pick up any of the VIVE equipment.

Only solution i've found is to reinstall the VIVE setup program, forcing a headset restart or changing usb ports doesn't help.

Starting to get a bit long in the tooth now.....

I have another similar issue. Plug everything in, start SteamVR, and I get the screens light up white for a few seconds, then it goes black. Everything in SteamVR looks right. Green, Tracking, Connected. But I have to manually reboot the headset, then it goes white and then gives me the VR room.

It was similar to yours, but not as bad. Restart SteamVR, maybe reboot Steam, or the PC for it to take. I force reinstalled the firmware...that made it better.

I also haven't a clue what the leds mean. red looks like it is bad. light green is standby, bright green is in use. I have yet to see the unit go into sleep mode triggered by the proximity sensor.

I've started the RMA process. Got an email from TNT to arrange collection. Going on my holidays soon so hoping to get it picked up the day before so its not gone too long.

Loving it. But two problems. My right screen has far too many green pixels. Also frequently if not always when I first start up steam vr my headset screens briefly turn on and then turn off. Led flashes green and back to red. I have to manually go and right click and reboot vive headset for it to work. Once it is, it never has any other problems.... I didn't log the last issue, as I suspect that is something environmental rather than the vive..and isn't a biggie.

I thought I could live with the green pixels..but there are too many of them for me. Plus as I'm on holiday soon, I shouldn't be really without.
Since taking the plunge and paying for Dreadhalls, I've noticed I have 2 green pixels within the main area of sight. Hadn't ever noticed until the dark corridors, and now what has been seen cannot be unseen!

How did you start the RMA process? I've been bugging them for a week and half about the 2nd unit they sent me but they won't respond. E-mails and web tickets directly, and phone calls to the main HTC line with the promise of callbacks are all still unfulfilled.

Something to be aware of;

HTC are in serious trouble, so long term support may become an issue.
It would be a disaster story of epic proportions if they collapsed after being first to market on a product that is in insanely high demand.

I wanted to buy shares when they were around the 70 mark but couldn't find a a stress free way to do so, mainly due to Taiwan having crap foreign investment rules. I assumed they would keep rising with the Vive release, but noticed they are currently lower at 66 odd.

HTC vive chat is the only.way to go. My replacement I am expecting.to have green pixels too..as long as there are less than 7 I'll be happy

Yea, not the best, hopefully this will be fixed in a software update.

In other news I've just managed to wack one of my house walls whilst trying to throw a knife in Budget Cuts, made a dent in the wall...... Controller seems fine though!

Can wait for the full game

Enjoyed Budget Cuts, funny having to crawl about, must look nuts.

Highly recommend Holopoint if you don't have it, great fun.

Wrestling with an element of doubt now. I found a few posts on the Steam forums talking about stuck green LEDs. Now I'm wondering if I should upgrade my GPU first (from a 290 to probably a 1080) and wait for the second generation of consumer headsets when more complete games are available.

On the other hand I'm desperate to try VR as soon as possible. Decisions decisions, the missus even said she'd buy the headset for me on the condition she got to watch me play a few horror games but I'm not sure if my heart could take it!

Very tempted to get one for Fishing Planet and Subnautica, might even be cheeky and put it on my birthday wish list.

Can hope right? :p

Has anyone played Subnautica? It sounds good but some of the VR software is a bit rubbish so far. Still can't get a few of them working properly, must stop buying them all.
