***Hudl2***

Using it now, and for the price it's impressive. Install Google launcher and it's flying.

The 2gb ram makes hell of a difference.

Did have to do a factor reset last night due to rebbots, but read it was an update that Tesco pulled. Since then been perfect.

These newer atoms are actually quite impressive on the CPU side - fairly light on battery drain and on the windows tablets (which use the next model up) you can quite easily play stuff like eve online (as far as the CPU side goes). However the SoC's GPU side is a bit poor - adequate for android use but compared to windows desktop use your talking barely xbox360 level of performance (and less on the Power VR ones).

bit of an odd one, was sure i put mine on charge last night but this morning it was totally flat. the supplied charger is ridiculously tight in the socket so might just have not had it connected quite right. anyway its charging now.

if it went totally flat would that cause problems with the SD card? had a corrupt card error when turning it back on although it seems to have remounted okay..

Having and odd charging issue with mine.

The last two days I've put it on charge (official charger) before going to bed. App apps closed and screen off. Red light lit.

Yesterday it was dead as a dodo, this morning it's really low.

The stAndard charger lead is ridiculously tight in the hudl USB socket. Don't know if that's related.

Will put it on charge at work and see what it does I guess.

well after having mine sat on "7% charging" all morning with no signs of progressing i reset the hudl is now charging.

2 nights in a row now. hopefully its something that will be fixed in an update because this is going to get old really quickly.

got a "damaged SD card" error on reboot too. although that has remounted okay.

I've just ordered one for my 8 year old for Christmas. I'll collect it Thursday and set it up. Having played briefly with one in the store it looks like a cracking device for the price. We paid £25 in cash + boosted vouchers for one and a touch case :)

I picked one up a couple of days ago.

For the money, it's a cracking device. Screen is fantastic and speakers are great. People commented on it feeling sluggish and that the Tesco launcher was to blame. First thing I did was stick the Google launcher on there and I've not noticed any poor performance. I disabled the bundled Tesco apps (only My Tesco remains) and you virtually have stock Android. Can't comment on the camera as I have zero need for it.

There is a downside. Battery life.

I can achieve approx 6 hours of screen time, which isn't that great in my opinion. The tablet never leaves the house so I'm OK with that. For the price you pay, there has to be a sacrifice somewhere.

From what I've read, the Intel Atom Bay Trail SOC is not a massive power hungry beast. The battery has been confirmed as a 5710mAh unit. The Hudl 2 uses an x86 chip rather than ARM and an Intel-optimized build of Kit Kat, so its not going to be as optimized as the main version for ARM systems.

Android Lollipop should hopefully bring proper support for multiple architectures, including support for 64-bit x86 chips like those found in the Hudl 2. Whether Tesco have any plans to provide an upgrade to Lollipop is an unknown..

I'm impressed so far. Like the above poster the screen, speakers, and build quality are fantastic. Lovely device so far. I like the child safety features too, which I have taken advantage of for my 8 year old.

The default Tesco launcher should be replaced to improve the responsiveness of the Hudl 2 but avoid the Google Now Launcher. I'm finding it a bit of a battery drain. Stuck Apex on there (with Ok Google disabled) and finding battery life better.

Still not fantastic but at the price you pay compromises have to inevitably be made.

Hmm Hudl2 #2 (the replacement for the previous one with the chargibg issue) is flat this morning despite showing as being on charge all night :-/

I can't believe that I'm on my own with this.

Completely peed off.

I had a HUDL2 that would not charge properly. If I plugged the charger in then is said "(AC Charging)" but the % never went up. The only way to charge was to power down first then it charged OK on next boot.
Got a refund so never tried a 2nd one.

same issue as the my first one had.

the replacement has been fine for a few weeks, however it went on charge (official mains charger) last night and was stuck on 4% all night.

lost all confidence in it now.

Interestingly when I rang support they gave me a returns number as soon as I mentioned not charging. I got the impression it was a well known issue.

im wondering if its something to do with how ridiculously tight the USB port is? maybe its damaging the solder joints or something.
