***Hudl2***

im wondering if its something to do with how ridiculously tight the USB port is? maybe its damaging the solder joints or something.
Could be though I think the tightness was with the plug as I tried another cable and it was much easier. The plug had 2 barbs on it that made it very hard to remove from the socket.

Had a play with one at work that a colleague owns.

Its very impressive! Very smooth (with Nova) screen looks great, has good size bezels.

It's making me think twice about the Nexus 9

I had a HUDL 2 for a week, really liked it, but it had a charging problem. Took a refund instead of replacement and bought a Nexus 9. Regretted it straight away and that is now going back to be replaced by another HUDL 2. I can do everything I want on the HUDL and with Nova it is a pleasure to use.
The Nexus felt fragile & expensive while the HUDL is sturdy & cheap. With the HUDL I could just get on with using it and not worry about how I handled it or where it was left. I can live with the short battery life and probably being stuck on Android 4.4. Anyway I guess there might be a HUDL 3 out next year with Android 5 and overall I probably still have spent less than the Nexus 9.

I've been looking at different tablets, reviews etc.. for a while.

I ended up buying one of these last night, installed Apex launcher and all my other apps and games.

I'm very happy with this tablet so far, i haven't seen any slow down since changing the launcher.

Still loving mine, I've bought an anti reflective matt screen protector from Ebay which has got rid of any reflection on the screen which was my biggest problem with it.

Can anyone recommend a good screen protector please. I bought the proper Tesco ones but they make the screen very unresponsive. Took it off and its perfect.
But I would prefer to have something on there.
Thank you.
Amazing tablet by the way. Like said above, you don't have to worry about handling it or where you leave it :D

Same here, have ordered a Techgear clear one online to try in place of the Tesco one. Will report back.

I've had one of these for a few days now. Disable the 5 or so tesco bundled apps, stick on Nova launcher, and its brilliant. 0 slowdowns. Sure there are slightly sharper screens, longer runtime, lighter weight tablets out there in this size, but when you consider the price the hudl2 can be had for, there is no contest.

Couldn't agree more - have mine rooted now, so Xposed is on, along with a nice bunch of customisation modules, and power saving bits - its a pretty sweet tablet; and pretty immense for the money really.

Could you tell me which root process you followed? Was it the one listed on modaco?

Yes, that's the one I used - the guide they have doesn't fully explain the process though; but nothing major is missing - you just need to give it time to transfer the image over (I didn't time it but it took a good while).

I also did mine before the Hudl OTA updates came out, so the process may be different now - not sure, but I've not allowed it to apply the OTA updates since, nor the up[date to SuperSU.

Overall, it's working fine for me, I've been able to customise my Hudl experience to my liking, so I'm a happy camper.

How are you all finding the battery life?

Its fine, IMO, but the screen does seem to zap it a fair whack - you'd get a day out of it, so pretty much like most tech these days.

I have an Xposed module called "Amplify" and one called "Greenify" installed, that's one off of the Play Store, and both seem to have helped battery consumption somewhat.

I have now replaced the official Tesco screen protector with a (cheaper) Techgear clear one (they also do a matt one) I got off a large mail order site. Very impressed as the touch sensitivity seems as good as without one. Installation was as easy as these things ever are and it is a good fit.

Will give them a try thanks.

Also thank you.
There is so many to choose from. It helps when people suggest good ones so you don't buy some crap ones.

Thanks for those screen recommendations - the Tesco ones are rubbish, so I'll give these a try instead - prefer my tablets naked with a screen protector, than in a chuffing big case; so I need a screen protector pronto.
