Hull - Weather - flooding.

A 28-year-old man died in Hull after becoming stuck in a drain despite the attempts of rescuers to free him.

Also in Sheffield, a body has been found after a 13-year-old boy was swept away in a river, and a 68-year-old man died getting out of his car in floods.

Jesus 3 dead, bad storm time to get in storm drains.

Glad I'm buying a house on top of a hill... :p

That's seriously grim though - insurance premiums for all the small businesses and affected homes will go sky high :(

Update on the guy who died stuck in that drain.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/li...in_article_id=464164&in_page_id=1770&ito=1490

In Hull, Mike Barnett, 28, died after his foot became stuck in the grate of a blocked drain and floodwaters rose around him. Rescuers fought a desperate fourhour battle to save him, keeping his head above the water and giving him oxygen as he slipped in and out of consciousness. But he died of hypothermia with divers still trying to free his foot.

Been pretty hectic, woke up to our two ponds in the garden becoming one huge lake, however wasnt too bad on the front (Westbourne Avenue). Victoria, Park and Marlborough were closed yet when i went to work at 6 the bottom of Westbourne and pretty much most of Princes Ave was about waist high (Towards Spring Bank it was fine?!?). Got into work and the roof had collapsed then had to walk home in it at 10pm and im not surprised that guy died it was absolutely freezing!
Got a mate who lives down Grafton St and he says his entire bottom floor is under 2ft (or was at one point) and everytime a 4x4 went by a wave would go through his house.
And now its raining again! :p

Did i hear the radio right. A DAM in Sheffield may bust and flood the whole city???

That cant be right can it? god i hope not!

I can only hope no others die and maybe now we will get better drains and more grassland areas to stop this happening again...

Just got a call from someone who works for me in Sheffield - he had to walk home last night.

22 miles to Worksop, with some chest-deep wading involved.

Meant to be having a meeting up there tomorrow - cancellation time I think!

well thats me home for the day. Left for work at about 7:40am and moved 5 miles in 2 hours. Finally got to the crossroads which leads on to the road that's pictured in that Dam Picture only to be waved away by police with the road totally blocked off.

Drove back to try and go down the motorway and that's also closed off so I'm stuck. :p

There's not realy not many mini lakes formed near me in fact its dray as anything outside its just this dam Dam that's blocking me in :(

Huh, anything to get out of a meeting eh? Get a boat! :p

I was working in Nottingham yesterday. Took me 8 hours to get home to Sheffield. 3 different routes I tried across the River Rother all flooded. I abandoned the car in Chesterfield and started walking about 10-11pm but then saw that the A61 north was clear and went back to get it.

There's a purple shirted computer retailer in the same retail park as the place shown in the photo by the way.

If that earth dam goes, thats going to cause a few problems... crazy, 5 weeks of sun, and 3 days of rain brings us to a standstill, with the amount of rain we get int he UK, we should be able to deal with this.

I only hope there are no more deaths due to weather today.
