Humbug's Pre-Alpha Benchmark Testing

Shame I can't run it :(

Why not?

Fair enough, but it was related to the talk of draw calls and DX12, which I didn't start.
Probably shouldn't turn it into a DX12 thread either, do you want to tell slick rick to stay OT or shall I?

They were and are now focusing on DX12 as per AMD advice, its all good :)

I wondered if maybe they'd already done it for Mantle (surely they had chance based on it being added to BF4 and Thief so quickly). I thought it they had they might have released it.
I'm guessing it'll be pretty similar implementation to Vulkan and DX12, so if they'd done it for Mantle Vulkan and DX12 might be easy to add in too. Plus it gives anyone using their engine the ability to prepare for these APIs by using something similar.

I'll see if I get chance to run this later. Is there an actual benchmark or is it just a case of running around a bit?

If shankly's ok with me doing that of course...

Oh yeah.
I'll post my results!

I ran it 4 times, just because. Interesting that the length of the run varied, especially that first/top run.

My system is
CPU: FX-8350 @ 4.5GHz
RAM: 8GB @ 1600MHz
GPU: AMD 7950
Resolution: 1920*1080
OS: Win 10 Preview

@ GoogalyMoogaly Nice, thanks for that :)

Yeah, I have frame locked this, the more rendering you get per FPS the faster the run.
There are slight variation of a few % between runs. its difficult to build something that gives you a 100% consistent run each time, so many variables in the hardware and software which behaves slight differently from one moment to the next.

Whats your system?

Can you run Task Manager while you try to start it to see if it even appears there for a moment, please?

3570K / 7970.

Yes, task manager is open. It does say that your program is running, but I can't hear / see anything which suggests it is. I opened core temp to see if the cpu temps had risen, but nothing.

No you don't ^^^^ :)

Ok can you stop it in the Task Manager please, then if you don't mind going to the Humbug Folder and see if there is an error.txt, if there is please paste the info here.

No, there is no error text. I'm sure it must be something I haven't done correctly.

Thanks, no its nothing you did, you can't do anything wrong, it should just work like anything else.

One thing you could try is using the .exe directly, it might be a shortcut issue. Go into the Bin64 folder and find the 'Humbug Playground Test.exe', double click on it.

I think that might have worked. A request popped up from my anti-virus (I think), asking me to verify the program, which I did.

This is what I see now :

Good stuff, go to Graphics Settings to chose your res, apply, then Single Player, only one level there so hit return or the load button.

Mill around and when your ready....

To run the Benchmark simply load up the map as normal and use Shift + Print-Screen keyboard shortcuts, please don't hit anyother keys, let the Benchmark run to completion, when its done it will take you back to the main menu, simply exit the game.

The results should be in C:\Humbug\TestResults there is a text file named timedemo
