Hungarian Grand Prix 2012, Budapest - Race 11/20

I know where he's going with it though. The downforce at Monaco is used for stability and braking, rather than cornering speeds due to the low cornering speeds.

It is still downforce though, regardless of how its used on the track.

Monaco is a high downforce track and in their Monaco configuration Mercedes were quick. Hungary requires a similar setup to Monaco, so its not to much of a stretch of the imagination to assume Merc might be quick there too...

But you just can't win with arknor. If you even hint at a bad word against Merc or Schumacher he's down your throat with cherry picked stats like a terrier down a rabbit hole. Yet when you suggest Mercedes and Schumacher might do well, he does the same thing?

This whole thing has come from people suggesting Schumacher might do well! I think he just likes to argue.
pure make believe and all inside your head.....

merc are going to win when there clearly 0.5+ seconds off the pace ? do they have some miracle upgrades you didnt tell us about? the car looks the same since valencia

Well, if its wet they definitely had a chance, Schumi had a chance of pole in Silverstone in the wet so here, they would be even stronger

Sod it, I take it all back.

The Merc's are terrible. Schumacher will only just make it into Q2, be out qualified by Rosberg, and then crash into somebody in the race.

That better?

Which I imagine would be against the rules.

As long as the elements fit within the regulated areas, there's no reason why it would be.

If they wanted, they could just fill up the regulated areas with boxes. No aero benefit at all, but perfectly legal.

Look at the 400kph Honda that Alan van der Mewe drove in 2006 iirc. Didn't have a rear wing, just a single fin in the centre of the rear. Car was completely race legal with that.

Credit to the Ferrari reliability and luck ;)
Yeah. No credit to their tactics though. Alonso could have won Canada and another GP, Silverstone?, if they'd come up with better tactics. The extra points from those two races and he'd almost certainly be favourite to win a third title. Course we're talking about a driver who could have been a triple world champ already if Ferrari hadn't cocked up in Abu Dhabi a few years back!

I think if any Merc is going to perform its going to be Schumacher. He seems to have upped his game since Monaco Pole and that 3rd place at Valencia..

But the McLaren's were much faster in Germany with the new updates and they have further updates for Hungary.

I assume he's hinting that McLaren could be fuelled light or something.

Yup. Really annoys me when people speculate every race that x team is fast cause they top FP1 or FP2, then wonder where the performance went come Qualifying. :p

If we follow McLarens weekend routine for the last 3 races, they're awesome in FP1 and 2, and then it starts to fall apart.

Admittedly Button's race performance in Germany may have bucked the trend finally.
