what was the outcome of that  Did he get to spend time with Big Bubba? :D
The thought of a prison sentence for disobeying an arbitrary rule governed by a metal disc at the side of the road is ridiculous in my opinion.

i would rather a ban for x amount of weeks.

either way it will be on my licence wont it
I image a ban would have an even worse affect on insurance premiums.

Have you had your license for longer than 2 years?

Sorry to hear it mate :(

Parked up on an empty road at 7:30pm, directly outside Bargain Booze. Ran in, bought beers, ran back out... to see some traffic warden leaning over my car *cry*

I was legally parked but at an entrance to a back of a building, even though it was unlikely to have anyone go in and out when I came out of one shop I thought ok the guys just moved infront of me so I moved forward the car. Come back from another shop and a snotty nosed warden slaps the £30 ticket on, it was a disabled spot but the spot before was fine....you should see how small the disabled sign is and legally thats not enough notice which means I could go to court...like Id win..."Ignorance isnt a good enough reason to break the law". You know the wardens get fired if they dont get X amount of cars in one day and they also get incentives like the little mopeds *grr*

Sorry about the speeding mate; depending on how you are that day and how you look will depend on what the result is. Minimum fine+ 3 points and maximum a ban :/

It never is about saving lifes or whatever, its just about money.

well i have been talking to a few people who say it is better to not attend court and to pleed guilty by post at the first chance.

if i attend court i will dress smart in a suit. take what they say. say my bit. about how i am sorry and relly have learnt a lesson.

hopfully they wont make an exmple outta me :(

21-30mph over a 20 or 30mph limit is recommended to be approximately a weeks pay and 6 points or a disqualification of up to 56 days.

I had 3 points and a £60 fine for that exact offence. Standard fixed penalty.

Unusual, you must have been very lucky. ACPO says 50+ is a court appearance.

There is a time and a place for speeding, 30 zones aint them

....

I know, doing near double the limit in a 30 is something I just cant do though.

Oh come on. How can you tar all 30mph zones with the same brush? You have no idea what road it was on or the conditions.

I know a wide open 4 lane road (2 on each way) thats a 30. It feels ridiculous doing 30mph on it. Should be 40 or 50.

I think 160 in a 30 goes a bit beyond merely disobeying a sign, it's fundamentally dangerous.

Whilst I have no doubt that many speed limits are arbitrary and inappropriate, I challenge you to find any section of road with a posted limit of 30mph on which 160mph would be considered safe.

Shoot, youre new too :/ thats 6 points no licence and back to doing both tests and isnt it a 2 year ban (not sure on the ban but am on the rest)

Cant you get a parent or a mate to take the fall :o

I know a road that is 3 or 4 lanes each way that is a 30
It's a joke really, most people go atleast 60mph and get very irrate with people who are sticking to the limit.

If he got 6 points then he wouldn't get a ban aswell by the court (afaik). He will have to re-apply for his provisional license and then take both tests again. The DVLA don't impose any sort of restriction on how long you have to wait before doing this.

Be a bit difficult if he was pulled over and confirmed his identity to the policemen.

I may have been done for doing 60 in a 40 today. It was just me being stupid, it was uphill and all :(

That'll be Penglais Hill I reckon ;) I see the camera van there virtually every sunday avo, i got caught there too :(

I dont get half the speed limits. My dads not one for being speedy cause hes always shattered after 12hour nightshifts n that but when you stick to the speed limit you ALWAYS get some A-hole about 2ft from your bumper and that gets on my nerves. Its not a race!!!!! Its easy to press that right pedal but its up to you if you think its worth it. Backroads that are rarely used by cyclists and people then put the foot down a wee bit just make sure you slow down enough for the wet greasy corners.

I was in a taxi at 5am coming home from glasgow and the guy would just go through red lights and go abot 50mph in 30's.If he was stopped and fined for that then i would be pretty disappointed in the police cause the roads are EMPTY its a ghosttowm!

If you ask very politely and the judge is feeling very leniant he may give you a ban and a big fine. But most likely, your looking at 6 points.
