I am such a muppet :(

to be honest i know plenty of roads that are 30MPH speed limit but really should not be, effectively they are country roads 60MPH, that have always been country roads, till some builder built like 4 houses on them now they are 30MPH. In no way shape or form should they be, and no-one drives at 30MPH.

However, the polic don't see it that way...they see it as a money maker.

Its ridiculous. The road should be 40MPH at least!!

That'll be Penglais Hill I reckon ;) I see the camera van there virtually every sunday avo, i got caught there too :(

I'm not sure how good it's visibility is though? I drove up and down a few times (lol) and i reckoned it could only get me just before i passed the University entrance, by which time i wasn't speeding. What do you reckon mate?

21-30mph over a 20 or 30mph limit is recommended to be approximately a weeks pay and 6 points or a disqualification of up to 56 days.

Unusual, you must have been very lucky. ACPO says 50+ is a court appearance.
I must have been it seems - I had no idea at the time (about 5 ago)

So they rasie it to 40 and people think, oh i can do 45-50, the reason its 30 is so people will break it but not by much, doubt police would stop anybody on a road for doing 40 that could be a 40.

Its the same on Wigan Road, its the main road to the M6 its a very wide road and no schools on it and its safe doing 40mph.

at the fact that i was speeding at that time.

i dont normally speed on that road. but this time i had a mate in the car. was chatting away. going down hill...

snip thats it :(

Don't mean to be horrible, but that will teach you for next time. You shouldn't have been speeding regardless. What is someone walked out from behind a car or something?

i no.

thats why i say i been such a idiot. i relise all this now. i havent broken the speed limit at all since. i am really worried about it all so am being carful

ah the big old hill running up aber? used to love walking up there to uni, i would often see this pink v8 cortina roar up and also a 80s porsche thing that would go through 4 gears flat out!

i didnt auctually see any speed signs on that road in that direction either :(

my own stupid fault really.

i am going to have to pay the price now. and its gunna be costly

What speed limit was the road you came off? If you can show that you came off a 50 limit, for example, and that there are no signs informing you of a change to the speed limit along the route you took, then they might look on it a little more favorably

and i suppose you never speed?

Oh you silly chap. At least you're accepting that you were being very foolish. I hope you don't get too badly mauled by them, but to be fair that was a fairly outrageous use of speed really.

Lesson learnt I hope, but I'm sure we've all done silly foolish speeds in 30s at some point in our lives.

cheers freefaller.

should have stuck with my petrol drinking micra that got you high :(

aw well guess i will just hope and wait. dont want 6 points. really dont :(

Hope it works out for you Stinky, I guess you are in your first few years of driving?

I've noticed a few posts about Penglais hill in Aber, when I was there 2002-2005 they always had a speed trap just up from the university entrance pointing upwards getting people coming down the hill as they go past the entrance for PJM and the road to Llanbadarn.

I've seen a boy racer drift that road before. Downhill, at night. It did look good fun but not the place to do it IMO.
