I don't understand the negativity towards Prius

To be fair I don't think the TT was trying very hard until he realised he was just out dragged by a Prius. The Prius can definitely drop cars off the line if they aren't expecting it.

Also I love overtaking other cars in a Prius, I think it sends a certain type of message 'If you are overtaken by a Prius then you need to reassess your driving style and speed up' epic pwned

Info: Prius weighs around 1500kg

I call BS on this even with my wife owning the ct200h. which is iirc very similar to the toyota auris which builds from the prius.

i also own a z4 3 litre petrol. the ct200h is slow and it's not even close. put it into sport mode and it's okay. however these cars weren't designed for speed they are what i would call average cars. which translates to on here as slow cars.

i would call BS on them beating any real sports car even in a 0-30. they aren't fully electric. it's a true hybrid. electric stops working under extreme acceleration soon as you hit 16mph. then your relying on a 90bhp petrol engine. with possibly some assist here and there from the hybrid side.

you could call them quick off the line because electric and automatic is on it's side. but as soon as they hit 16mph electric only assists the engine rather than being in full control of the wheels below 16 mph.

from my pov I just make jokes about it simply because it is such a funny, ugly, weird looking thing!

it's a bit of a car-guy joke when ever something is rubbish it gets called worse than prius.

I'm fully aware that it is a great car as a car/tool but not something I'd ever own.

From the Prius I've driven they aren't refined or nice inside at all and extremely noisy (bumps, road noise, rattles).

Also if you even glance at the brake pedal it puts you through the windscreen!

Great for <35mph but not efficient once up to the 85mph that every Prius owner wants to do on the interstate.

Strange comment. How can you even race, drop or drag a car if they haven't a clue that's what your doing.
Your simply a guy that's setting off like a Muppet while the other guy is just driving.
I can drop a car of the line on my mountain bike if they're not expecting it.

Things I like:
Adaptive cruise control: this is the best thing since Logitech universal remotes! set it to 70mph, sit back and just steer. Come up to standstill traffic? No problem as it will go all the way to a stop (keeping a 2 meter distance to the car ahead) and with just a flick of the resume lever it starts up again. (do still be vigilant while driving as it's still a tiny bit slow to recognise when a slower car pulls abruptly in front of you)
JBL speakers: not the best compared to Harmon Kardon etc. but fine for my needs
The first two things you listed you can get on most cars now :p
Even basic Golfs have had standard Adaptive Cruise since 2012

It's not a diesel 5 series.
Now you mention them
I'm currently averaging 51.3mpg in my diesel 5 touring :) [after 8,000 miles]

"I bought an economical car to drag race people"

I guess I'm trying to convey that it's not a milk float anymore and is very capable on the road/not slowing down other road users (depending on driver) - the TT must have missed a gear or something and I thought it quite funny at the time that a Prius shot past a TT

Please don't crucify me, I'm not saying a Prius is a sporty/soulful car

And BTW JBL speakers are good. They are actually owned by Harman (who are owned by Samsung).

I agree however sometimes when listening to DAB radio, certain types of radio DJ deep voices can distort them (at volume level 15)

My previous company car for a year was a Lexus IS300h F-Sport with Mark Levinson upgrade which was superb and didn't have the distort issue above - can tell the difference going to JBL which is to be expected

i'd agree with most of that. which is why the lexus ct200h is available.

the f sport however does have a very harsh ride. maybe better off with the premier if you don't want to feel bumps.

Never saw the point of putting "sport" suspension on cars like that. You end up with a slow car that's also harsh, so best of no worlds. People seem to love buying Audis like that and it's annoying.

Always fun to watch them on track days
