I finally bought an ipod

iTunes is more or less drag and drop, if people have a hard time working out how iTunes works you shouldn't be on a computer let alone own an iPod.
It's nothing to do with being difficult, its just another barrier between getting your MP3s onto the iPod. An annoying, slow, buggy interface at that.

I personally find iTunes much easier than any drag and drop MP3 player I have used.
The last drag and drop MP3 I had, the Creative Zen Touch, that was pretty sucky, you needed to have all the mp3s tagged IIRC to get play lists etc together.

However, i LOVE my Archos 504, that has a proper file structure, which is a hell of a lot easier than anything I've used in the past.

Drag and drop is fine when you have 100 songs. When you're looking at 10,000+ not so much.

I much prefer iTunes doing the hardwork for me, ie:

Zero effort synchronization
Automatically ejecting the iPod
Smart Playlists
Automatically fetching (hi resolution) album artwork

Don't understand why people are confused by iTunes, or consider it a burden

iTunes is a pig of a program on Windows, you'd be much better off using something else with an iPod plugin.

Plus the lack of custom equalizer is a big downer for me, sound quality isn't as great as other MP3 players if you have real headphones either :/

Nah, the sound stage is reasonable on the ipod, I prefer it over the Creative series to be honest. But have only tried the Shure E4Cs and my own Super.Fi 5 Pro's with them both.
