I finally gave up WoW

wow is just a very well polished game ran very well, if weak people use it as escapism its not the games fault, they will just turn to something else to fill the void.

some people only look on the surface never actually at the real problem.

That is a very good point. I never blamed WoW for my addictive personality, it's just me. I'm sure I would be the same with other MMO's.

....and to be fair, who wouldn't want to be a female dwarf with a great big axe? :)

also i want to know how some people define 'addiction' to wow.

say for instance bloke 'A' plays wow for say 8 hours a day, yet still maintains a job and a healthy relationship with his gf. bloke 'B' plays for 7 hours but it affects his job and loses his gf. which one of these 2 would you say is addicted, the one who plays more per day or the one who plays less.

Outside of raid times it becomes nothing more than a glorified chat room.

The idea of farming for materials in your spare time is totally depressing. I enjoyed raids , but the work involved in doing it seriously was getting too much for me and I got sick.

2.5years i played before quitting.

Rather special game admittedly, its very well made. But im happier now im off it

Can't remember when i started but it's probably about a year and a half ago now. 70 or so days played! It sounds REALLY bad but when most of the time It is treated as an expensive msn it doesn't seem as bad.

Just before wrath i got into a good guild with scottish leaders and it's been very good banter. 3/4 wings cleared in hc naxx and nearly downed malygos! The game totally depends who you play with.

I can count 8-10 people who play it and im mates with "IRL" so it is quite fun. If you play along PVP would probably be better rather than PVE.

lol one person jumps out another 10 jump in, sadly ive decided to give WoW a blast again as i needed a character developing online game and the rest just seem crap.

Depends, does bloke A feel compelled to play for 8 hours a day? Or is it 100% his choice because there is absolutly nothing more constructive he could be doing with his time?

If the latter, then B as he obviously can't stop himself from playing even though he knows it's destroying his real life.

I play WAR now, but same story, just with better PvP, but no real 'depth' of world. As i grow older and has been a good 6 years since played my first MMO, i long for the sandbox game where i can build, harvest, do politics, explore, etc. If Darkfall pulls it off, then i may find the gf moving out and my microwave being put to good use.

Sadly have a feeling Darkfall won't pull it off, would be nice if it did though. Not that I've got time to play MMOs anymore!

Maybe bloke A's gf is his Guild Leader and he plays to keep her happy, he may hate the game but plays out of love for her! Therefore Bloke A is not addicted! Bloke B is a loser :)

After more than 2 years and more hours than I care to remember, I have cancelled my subscription.

I'm not going to go anti-wow as some people do, I just got bored. Time to give this real life idea a go. I understand the graphics are quite nice :D

Good man, go and enjoy yourself now.

Suprisingly there is a lot more to the game than the hour or so it takes to get to lvl 13

So true.

Small spiders become big spiders then giant spiders asyou progress.:p

Same with all MMOs

MMOs are rubbish it's the people you game with that make it fun.

Yeah, seriously.

EQ2 for 3 years and a similar story to a few people in this thread. As soon as I quit though, like 5 people at work started WoW lolz...
"When one door closes, another one opens"?

Ahh well done to the OP. I also quit that game about 2months or so ago. Just as the new patch before WOTLK came and changed everything (again).

Like you I'd played for 2 and 1/4 years or so and the only thing that was keeping me going was guild raiding and social aspects. When that died in the patch it was game over for me as I couldn't be assed to start a new expansion.

Prepaid ran out accidentally as I cancelled my credit card and therefore standing order and one day it had expired....never gone back since. Keep up the good work mate! There are other things to do in life and other games to waste your time with :D
