I finally gave up WoW

I too have quit WoW.

I simply couldn't stomach the idea of levelling again and the main element that enjoyed (PvP) became ridiculous on the new patch pre wotlk. I do miss my druid and the origional arena seasons and PvP, but I don't want to renew my subscription as it just consumes too much time and thought.

I still have a look on wowhead from time to time and my housemate still plays, but I'm simply not tempted back at all.

It's a shame in a way as I had good/very good gear when I quit and still had more spellpower than my mate who got his dru to 80. I've played a bit on his druid and the worrying thing is when he got me to do 'a hard heroic' we had no wipes and one death  and it was my first ever time in that instance. Proof enough for me that there is no challenge.
I've done some PvP on his character as well and I must say that it is absurd (those who PvP in wotlk will no doubt agree) and frankly not much fun anymore.

Unfortunately it makes me spend more time surfing the internet than I used to. As for social life I'd say that it's pretty much the same as it was: I never let WoW get in the way of going to the pub with my mates.

Well done to the other quitters! :)

Well i've just started playing again after quitting about 3 years ago. Just bought both expansions and I am a bit overawed by how much things have changed. Death Knights are everywhere, and within 1 minute of logging on I had 3 challenges of a duel. Sad to see the community hasn't grown up, even slightly. Shame they can't introduce a server for people 30+ with jobs who don't have all day to game and are actually pleasant to one another.

Have to say I don't get the whole addiction thing: its really enjoyable if you get a couple of hours here or there, but I just can't understand people getting so hooked that it takes over their life completely.

billz, what level is your char?

the ocuk alliance guild on moonglade is mostly made up of mature 25+ peeps with job/family commitments. Might be more of you scene.

Hi Voltage,

I currently have Alliance 67 Rogue/60 Priest on Dragonblight. Might be willing to start over with a brand new char though, sounds interesting. Might roll a new char on Moonglade and contact you ingame for a chat. :)

Played for 7 months worst mistake of my life, complete waste of time.. The more time you give it, the less it deserves.

Challenge is overstated, even in the past vanilla and expansions. It's only a challenge up to the first time you kill a boss, then it's just a routine. Even the hardest encounters are reduced to choreography after a mere few days. The veteran players stay because the game is still fun to play, even if it's for the nth time. The appeal of gearing up and anticipating the next turn is as strong as ever. If what you said was right, famous and skilled guilds like Nihilum and Forte would simply vanish - but they don't. Even Death and Taxes came back, like a weed that grows in the cracks on the pavement.

It's all about whether or not the encounters are enjoyable time and time again, and Blizzard has never really failed on this aspect. (redoing Naxxramas as the first raid in wotlk was a really smart move too)

It's a challenge up till you have a boss on farm, then it's just a grind to kit everyone out, Doing the same encounters week after week is never fun and has never been :)

Top end guilds raid and play as hard as they do for the challenge and the race to progress, which is now sadly lacking, can only hope 3.1 is a challenge.
