Anyone notice that AMD have only 1 chip in that chart?

I think that may well have been the testers decision. They could have easily placed other AMD cpu results like phenom II x4 etc.

The Intel Xeon seems to be the top dog in the processor world. Can anyone enlighten me as to why these chips are so fast?

Ah man, to see the top Core 2 Quads (Q9550, Q9650) and i5 750 in the bottom area is distressing

. I have Q6600 and wonder what score it would have got

They're enterprise class server chips for workstations, and the top one in that chart is hexacore, has support for 288gb of ecc ram.

Do the tests. I have a Q6600 and got 1600 points. It is an old processor so i didn't expect it to break records. Ivy Bridge is what i will be looking to upgrade to next year.

It's because they contain Dual-Quad core flux capacitors and run at 1.21 gigawatts...

Apparently my Xeon W3520 is 800 points slower than the 920, when it's the same CPU, plus ECC.

Also apparently the W3540 is slower than the Core i7 920, when it has a 266Mhz adv.

Take all those numbers with a pinch of preverbal salt.

@Chuggerboom - Some believe the Xeon chips come off better parts of the die and therefore clock better etc.

There shouldn't be any performance difference at stock between a Xeon W3680 or a Core i7 970X, they are the one and the same, apart from the Xeon accepts ECC for the more critical work environments and a few other small improvements but I don't know what they are.

Can you tell me what the top system hits on that site?

My trial period run out, so i can't access it now. When i looked it was a dual Xeon set up at number 1.

For my Q6600@3Ghz I get cpu mark of 3738.5 lol. But that's cause EIST and C1E were enabled in bios and they affect the maximum performance a cpu can produce plus background processes running. I think i can get higher cpu mark plus passmark rating if I had more physical available memory plus minimised running processes and so on. So many factors come into play and not to mention that it was only at 3Ghz lol.

Lol EIST and C1E are power saving features. So if enabled they constrain the cpu from reaching it's maximum potential. If disabled the cpu should be free to reach it's highest potential and give higher score

Look like they are stupid going over 1.4V voltages and kill the chip. I don't like 32nm chip! Stick to 45nm (longer lifetime)
