I hate fireworks

Odd thing is, our two african greys aren't the slightest bit bothered by them.

Though one is flat out crazy mind :D

I hate fireworks, whoever thought giving the general public access to flashy explosives is an idiot. They should only be allowed to be purchased by people over 30, as there are too many 18ish year olds that get hold of them and fire them out of tubes :/

Sometimes I think enjoying fire works suggests a lack of intelligence, or a lack of maturity. Some of the posters in this thread prove this :p But then I am just a scaredy cat that use to cry over them as a kid haha, so I probably have no say. Luckily, they have stopped here now!

It wasn’t too bad around here. WW3 ended at around nine and it was fairly dead by eleven. The real idiots were the ones that decided to let off a whole lot at midnight on Friday.

I agree with the OP. The majority of home purchased fireworks are rubbish, and I don't like the fact that they scare animals.

The NYE London firework spectacular beats Bonfire night hands down, why not stick with that one?

They're fun, pretty, and whilst there is a meaning behind the 5th of November - in general fireworks are a great show, lights up the sky, have impressive shapes and sizes, and it's fun family evening out.

I accept that home fireworks, when it's just one or 2 done by chavs, it does it get irritating, but if you're doing as a family event, then why not?!

Cheer up people! :D

We had a massive family and friends party last night. About 40 people came over and brought some fireworks. I must say I do hate it when people just bring the cheap and nasty fireworks which to be honest is a waste of time but myself and a few others never dissapoint :p Had some huge barrages and rockets. The burst and hangtime of some of them were the real deal. A great night had by all. It's only once per year so some people need to chill :D

Fireworks are nice to watch but a real pain if you have dogs.

Cherrybombs.....now thats fun

I hate them too. They make me jump, they scare animals, they are noisy and pointless. Any thing that scares animals that much can not be seen as good, its disrespectful to the animals! And also, they are a pain when you live in a city! I have been at my dads in the city for the past week and nearly every night they have been going off. I actually loath this time of the year due to the fact fire works are going off. They go off late at night too, after 10-11pm, which shouldn't be allowed due to people trying to sleep, especially kids!

edit: I was going to make this thread but I got beaten too it!

At first I was like "You sound like an grumpy old man" but I can see your point, I think the main problem with fireworks is, you don't really have a choice whether or you take part, even if you stay at home alone you still get a load of free shows from neighbours, out of my 3 dogs only 2 of them get scared, the Rottwieler is def so it doesn't bother her, she just dislikes the flashes.

Makes me wonder how they were able to use dogs during the war? and what about gun dogs?

I remember getting hold of display fireworks once. "stand 25m back" wait this garden is only about 25ft, hell lets do it anyway!

Wish a had a video camera at the time, with all the people diving for cover! :D

Totally irresponsible, but hell it was fun at the time :p

Not once per year though is it? My 3 year old daughter was distraught for hours because of fireworks last night. Every bang had her screaming and holding her ears, was a horrible experience to watch as I had no control over what others were doing.

Had them fridaynight, last night and id bet a years wages tonight as well!

Dont get me wrong I love them, however I think they should be organised events only. Start and end time job done! They were going off round here till way past 11pm.

I was in Paris for New Year in 2000, after seeing a firework display that epic I completely lost interest in going to smaller firework displays.

Unless a million pounds worth of fireworks is going to be let off in one go, I'm not interested. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Personally I love fireworks but it was the first fireworks night for our baby girl and the ones with the REALLY loud bangs kept waking her up which made for an enjoyable evening....

At least Fireworks night is much better than halloween where I turn off all the lights, pretend not to be home and hope none of the local teenagers come a knocking... lol

Why don't kids like them? when I was younger all I thought was "ooooo pretty colours"

If kids won't stop crying because of loud noises then my kids going to have problems, as soon as Slayer do a "Lullabys by Slayer" album, **** all this Disney ****
