Wider circles than you, would seem to be the correct answer then.

In addition to those I know / have known socially, I was at an ANTIFA meeting a couple of years ago and I was in a room with 20 explicit communists at minimum. Similar numbers on other occasions. There are still lots of actual communists around.

Well it's kinder to limit your argument to a single country. You actually wrote "Western Society" which is an even bolder claim still. (And even more easily refutable).

It's episodic. Depends where I am and what I'm doing in life at the time. But yes, I've socialised in a quite wide range of circles. I come from a fairly working class background and the first half of my life there wasn't a lot of money or stability. Second half I've done quite well for myself and am now squarely Middle Class. Add in that a lot of my social activities are political in nature and yes - you end up knowing a lot of different people. Frankly, doesn't seem an outrageous claim to know some people who are communists and I fail to see why that stretches credulity. If VincentHanna has found them so rare as to be mythical in this country (forgive me - "Western Society") then maybe he should widen his circles. If he's going to make sweeping statements based on his personal experience, at least. And if you want to meet more people of any given type, nothing's stopping you. In fact, live or work in most Northern cities, I don't see how you couldn't know at least some Muslims.

I actually think it's the reverse in many ways. You meet people every day but never know the politics that lies beneath the surface.

I know 3 confirmed communist ex teachers of mine, and there are 5 or more committed communist youngsters who meet in one of the pubs in Whitchurch, all of whom I know by name, to lay out their back yard agendas to turn the country around. They harangued my MP, Owen Paterson, at one of his talks. It was embarrassing and risible, I actually felt sorry for them. All have professional parents who could be termed wealthy, and I know for a fact three of them have never worked a day in their lives, despite being in their mid twenties. Some of the locals take pleasure in seeing how long they take to become hysterical when fox hunting or Royalty are mentioned ;)

Yes. I saw that the first time. And I know at least half a dozen, personally. Perhaps they barely exist but all of them happen to know me. Or perhaps "barely" is a word that you can adjust upwards as needed to always be n+1 where n is the number of communists anyone in the thread can point to, and thus mean VincentHanna can never be wrong.

Is it mainstream? No. Are there still plenty of communists / marxists around? Yes.

This is because I said you would adapt the word "barely" to any necessary number to avoid being wrong? :rolleyes: What are you dribbling on about? You claimed communists barely exist. I said I know several personally. It's highly unlikely I happen to know the only communists there are so yes, communists are still a thing. And now I have D.P. accusing me of making things up because Heaven forbid it be believable that I should know any. Let me ask you this then? Do you believe that Antifa exist? You've heard of them, yes? Wear black a lot and like to smash in windows and shout a bit? Why don't you go and talk to them, see how many of them identify as some form of communist. The vast majority of them from the ones I know. But according to you both Antifa doesn't exist, right?

I get that you'd just love to call me a liar but use just a modicum of logic before deciding something couldn't possibly be true, wont you?
