I have never seen so many white people in one place

Guy Verhofstadt thinks its a good idea to bring Africa into economic union with the EU and we already know that ecomimc union entails FOM. Africas population is still ona rapid upward trajectory aiming for around 2.5 billion or around a quarter of the world's population.

This isn't an aberration the people at the top of the EU have a consistent track record of wanting 'and ever expanding, ever closer Union'

There's a good chance that far from resulting in a long standing stable union that the EU will end up ona calamity that will make the UK's situation look like a rather insignificant political foot note

The EU may not just destroy itself... Allowed to enact it madness on its constituent nations it may do irreparable damage to them as well.

Still it might solve the 'so many white people' problem when it to news reporting?

I see a free trade agreement... it’s even on the ******* screen.

And as the EU has spent the last 3 years telling us, free trade only happens with FOM.

Really now, does Japan or Canada have such FoM with the eu with their FTA???

Astonishing.

Looking into it it seems to just be a conference on pushing the African states into their own joint agreement while pulling it towards Europe, in a time when the Chinese are swiftly pushing in on the continent for various resource reasons, I think perhaps it’s only prudent that we don’t just allow a potential enemy state to have such advantage.

.

Are the EU in an economic union with Japan and Canada like Verhofstadt suggests for Africa?

Like is said free trade with the EU without FOM sounds like a good brexit compromise.

So why don't you let the Big wigs over in Brussels know of your genius plan?

It says FTA? Can;t you read? Its stupid scaremongering like 28m Turkish people are about to move to the UK which was swallowed as truth by leave voters that got us into this mess!

You’re conspiracy laden nonsense besides, in no world would European powers unionise with Africa in the current environment.

Currently 49 African states are attempting to unionise economically and the EU is advising, this is not surprising. **** that flows out of one MEPs mouth is entirely unworthy of mention when the barriers to what you assert are so high. They can’t even get Ukraine or Turkey in, how exactly under the current framework would this be possible?

Er the EU offered us a FTA 18 months ago and May rejected it.............................

Yes both free trade agreements, as accepted by a wto.

Trade agreements minimising tariffs. The African Union has been working on FOM across the continent and a full FTA with the EU include movement conditions.

China has been developing Africa at a fast rate and this is the EUs attempt at stifling this and trying to get EU business into the area to push out the Chinese.

Are you implying that Africa will always be unworthy?

It would be incredibly stupid to let Africa be a base for a future enemy, and rightfully we should pull them closer to us as reasonable to both continents.

We have perhaps a sordid history with the continent, but we shouldn’t let it be a barrier to our continual desire to improve African life which just so happens to eventually improve our own in some far off future where the continent is an economic power.

Where did I state anywhere they are unworthy. Try not to make up things to put down people's comments.

Is case you haven't worked it out, China isn't an enemy, it's a vital trade partner.

Well if the assumption is that eventually Africa is a continent of increasing wealth and opportunity, then there would be no issue with increasing cooperation? Therefore you’d have no issue with verhofstadts statement, it’s a statement on the future after all, confirmed entirely by the PowerPoint. (You can make some assumptions about his ulterior motives, but they’re completely irrelevant in a EU controlled by nation states)

You’re a tad naive if you think China isn’t anything other than an enemy state that simply can’t act in total belligerence in our current geopolitical landscape, I mean jeez we’re having to remove huawei devices because of it.

The theatres (of war) are being made abundantly clear as we discuss pitiable issues.

The devil in the details
The guidelines say that as in other free trade agreements, rules of origin will have to apply, aims for a continued reciprocal access to fisheries resources, and an agreement on aviation is needed to continue smooth air travel.

The EU also wants the UK to respect the 'level playing field', making sure that the UK will not undercut the EU in taxes, or massive state subsidies.

"The UK is big and is closer to us [EU], it is a competitive economy, therefore we believe this should be required in this particular case," one senior EU official said about demanding a level playing filed between the EU and the UK.

The EU would be able to use "remedies" if the UK attempts to unfairly undercut the bloc on competition or taxes.

So it's wasn't just simply a free trade with no FOM deal was it?

It was one where the EU would be able to fix uk taxation and subsidies under threat of penalties.

My comment was on FOM for free economic areas, I made no indication how I feel about that. Try not to assume things.

You really need to work on your paranoia. We are not at war with China. Jon Snow is not a soldier of the liberation front. It's a nation state like any other that has actively avoided armed conflict for a very long time and seeks to secure it's security and access to resources

Its not an assumption of his motives... he states it in his tweet! He doesn't stop at free trade.... he specifically uses th phrase 'economic area' .

The EU have been very clear that economic union means FOM
