I have never seen so many white people in one place

I don't own a car (contract hire)
I don't own a house (rent) and it's quite small

I run a small business, I have to travel around for work, I don't have much in the way of personal debt, I am married, I don't have kids but most of my friends do. I have two sisters, My Mum and Dad are from a working class families, though we grew up in a middle-class neighbourhood. I went to a comprehensive school in the middle of the biggest council estate in the town (now city) of Chelmsford and have in the past voted for Conservatives, Lib dems and Labour, with the caveat that my vote for Conservative was due to my age (lack of knowledge/interest) and now I tend to vote based on manifestos and personalities.

Anything else you want to know?

Edit - Awww, where's the comment about being a wealthy BMW owner gone?

I removed it immediately after posting because I decided I didn't want to make any of the argument about individuals even though that's what people have been attempting to do to me. Unfortunately it seems you were watching for any replies immediately.

EDIT: That said, having re-read your post there seems to be some careful wording in there. What car do you drive? And as you say you both run your own business and have a contract hire car, is that through the company you run? It would seem logical. Saying that you don't own a car because the company you run provides it seems something of a technicality. If anything, having it through the business would actually allow you to reduce your taxes wouldn't it? I'm just curious given how you dodged around the question I deleted.

No, it's a personal contract hire that costs me £400 a month.

The lease company are the legal owners of the vehicle.

See, this line of personal conversation really isn't what I was going for which is why I deleted the little comment about you probably owning a BMW. But for the third post now you've carefully avoided actually giving certain details and the dancing around is making me more and more curious. What car do you drive? I'm also a little confused as to why you drive it for work but it's paid for entirely by yourself personally and not by the business at all.

They may identify as Marxists or communists. Its doesnt mean they are one.

Well then we get into a question of how deep an understanding of Marxist / Communist theory does one require to be counted. If someone says they are a communist, believes that there should be no money and everything should be given according to need (the typical conversation I've had with Antifa type communists), I would say that counts. Whether or not they made it to the end of Das Capital isn't a requirement to me. Saying that someone isn't necessarily what they think they are is a truism. Clearly that happens. But is there any reason to suppose that those people marching with Sickles and Hammers, calling themselves communists and calling for the abolition of capitalism are somehow not?

You could reasonably argue that the outcome wont be what they think, but that's a critique of communism not whether or not someone is one.

Only Chris Wilson can compete with this in his infamous pub.
To be fair, I don't think the two are comparable.

@h4m0ny may exaggerate from time to time to make a point (don't we all) but I have no reason to suspect this is the case here.

My post was genuine. Despite spending the first 11 years of my life in Milton Keynes and going to school with people from all kinds of backgrounds, there's been a certain lack of diversity (of all types) since then. Throughout uni, my working career and my various hobbies, the kinds of people I have come across have all be distinctly 'average'. :p

I'd like to dispute that but I did once say that the average IQ of the human race would measurably rise when a certain poster here died. So I may occasionally.

The diversity I meet daily has declined a lot over the last five years. I've been exposed to some pretty wide social circles but the last several years has been more staid (the odd exception). You seem like a nice type. Travel a little when you get the chance or go to some local political stuff. It's always good to keep meeting new people. I need to get back to doing that more myself.

There's definitely a lot of young student lefty types who go a bit far with their hatred of the rich and right wing so decide to go full Antifa and Communist, I only know it's a thing because I work in a department that hire a lot of Uni students.

Same here. Born and breed in Yorkshire, went to Uni in Nottingham and came across my first communists then. Moved back up North after Uni. Never met another communist in the 30 years since. However, there are plenty of racists where i live.

You mean according to the media? I never see this crap out and about but according to the media, the world is falling apart. As well as the manufactured drama created online which is also from the media's influence.

I run a business in which I drive around a bit, not loads, but a bit. It's more tax efficient for the car to be mine rather than the business'. Mileage is an allowable expense and my tax code isn't adjusted for any benefits in kind.

That said, I do drive an old BMW 325, I would look at it much differently if the car significantly depreciated over time. It's probably rock bottom as is!

I have travelled a fair bit (certainly further than the typical holiday to the Canary Islands) but I was thinking more about the day-to-day acquaintances in the UK. My wife is German, but even that side of the family is white, middle-class, politically moderate etc…

Back on topic — it appears there have been over 2,000 complaints to Ofcom:

An Ofcom spokeswoman said: "We are assessing these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate."

A Channel 4 News spokeswoman said:
Jon has covered major events such as this over a long career and this was a spontaneous comment reflecting his observation that, in a London demonstration of that size, ethnic minorities seemed to be significantly under-represented.

We regret any offence caused by his comment.
She should have added that the 2,000 odd moaning Brexiteers "Aint seen nuthin yet" if we do actually end up leaving the EU.

I'd rather see idealistic left leaning students than the other way around. Conservative students... urghhh. It's those who haven't grown out of it by their late 20s I'm wary of.

Always seems to be the teachers who are the biggest lefties I know. Everything is the fault of the government and it doesn't matter how corrupt or inept a person in power is, if they are female or a minority they will support them.

Nobody has ever given a compeling argument in that thread for leaving the EU, so feel free to give it a go.

Guy Verhofstadt thinks its a good idea to bring Africa into economic union with the EU and we already know that ecomimc union entails FOM. Africas population is still ona rapid upward trajectory aiming for around 2.5 billion or around a quarter of the world's population.

This isn't an aberration the people at the top of the EU have a consistent track record of wanting 'and ever expanding, ever closer Union'

There's a good chance that far from resulting in a long standing stable union that the EU will end up ona calamity that will make the UK's situation look like a rather insignificant political foot note

The EU may not just destroy itself... Allowed to enact it madness on its constituent nations it may do irreparable damage to them as well.

Still it might solve the 'so many white people' problem when it to news reporting?
