I HAVE PROOF THAT WITH WINDOWS 10 FREE UPGRADE IS CRAP

wow, was it a retail key you had before?
Company vol.
This is the error code result:

This product key didn't work. (Error code: 0xC004C003)
You might also see this error if you're using an invalid product key. You'll need to buy a new product key, or if you bought a PC with Windows pre-installed, contact the PC manufacturer for the original key.

Nopety nope nope. Doesn't like new mobo. Product Key is blocked:

Who did you speak to? I'm trying to find a contact number that works.

That's how my PC was after I updated W7 (OEM) on my laptop to W10.

There doesn't seem to be a contact number to activate over the phone like with W7. There is no support details what so ever, just says buy a new license basically. :D When I asked the MS support chat the guy said just wait and it will activate.

The support page was a pain to find, its supposed to have activate by phone option but apparently it's not working yet due to high demand so used contact/request callback - avoid live chat.

I provided my ms account info oh and more importantly they have said that the auth server is massively overloaded so if it doesn't come up as genuine in the next few days to a week then it's nothing to worry about.

I still have a year to two left before i upgrade my PC hardware, will i be able to use my Windows 7/8 pro retail key when the times comes, or has upgrading to 10 affected that?

Edit: When i decided to upgrade my pc hardware will i be able to install Windows 8, use my pro retail key, and then just download the Win 10 upgrade and install like normal? This thread makes it sound like my Win 7/8 pro retail key is now useless.

Just checked my devices on my MSN site, and it still lists my PC with the old mobo. When I go to remove device, it spraffs some crap about the warranty continuing for my laptop.

If it isn't due to the servers being overloaded, it's possible my boss ordered serials for use with laptops? Never heard of it, but can't think why MSN thinks my desktop is a laptop.

TBH I've no effin idea exactly what kind of key I have. My boss added me to the partner network a while ago (quite why I do not know) and I've trawled all our keys and can't find anything that indicates the type except "on-premise" which is zero use.

Forgot about this. I grabbed a screen of slmgr /dlv info from cmd last night in case this happened.

Valid enough?

Wait a while, that error has been common. It's also an error for can't talk to servers as they have been getting hammered. I had that error for over a day before it would activate, even spamming the activate button didn't get me anywhere.
