I just finished Bioshock, but wasn't blown away. Anyone feel the same?

Infinite free lives - that's what ruined it. You never feel any tension whatsoever because if you do get killed you'll just instantly pop back at full health in the nearest vita chamber.

I lost interest pretty quickly after realising this.

I don't think I've ever killed in it...even on Hard I think the only times I ever died is when I gibbed myself on my own trap bolts while I was killing a Big Daddy.

Only bad point for me about the game is it's very, very easy.

I had loads of fun and the story is really compelling, but as noted the infinite free lives was stupid. also having to use the camera so you could increase the damage of your attacks was lame - i couldnt be bothered to do it and stuggled in the middle section of the game.

It wasn't as good as System Shock 2!

Enjoyed it though, was very atmospheric in places, but also some of the npc models looked a bit weak and it all felt a bit 'chunky'. The final boss was awful though.

A good game for me, not a great one. You'd clear an area and then moments later enter the room again only to see respawning enemies, that was the single major let down for me. Other aspects compensated enough for me to complete it and enjoy it quite a lot. Some very good moments scattered amongst acceptably good gameplay.

Thought it was a very enjoyable game.. It wasn't really until I was 1/2 way through that I realised I could have done things so differently but I think this is the beauty of the game that you can. Even when finished, there were a few plasmids that I never really got the best use of.

It was definately a decent game, but I actually found it got really samey and boring towards the end.

I remember being so hacked off that the 'twist' part, wasn't the ending and i actually had to keep on playing. Has some epic moments though, and really was fantastic at times don't be so harsh on it.

i thought the game was ok, i played it to the end but i didnt really like the graphics style they went with on the characters, i never really felt immersed in it like i have with some other games (thief 3 for example) so i guess it was lacking some atmosphere

i dont think i will ever feel the need to play through it again and im not too fussed about the sequel either, maybe if i find it cheap and there is nothing else to play at the time ill give it a go but its not on my must have list

So glad others said the same things this game was ok nothing amazing as many others said, very repetitive/backtracking too much as someone said earlier and too many door requires key type points in the game.

Apart from the COD games last year or 2 and crysis + the expansion aint really had any decent games out there to enjoy...

Still itching for BF3 or Supreme Commander2/Starcraft 2 or more biggy titles to refresh the PC gaming scene !

I know im a little late playing this one, but i cant help but feel as if this game has been really overhyped. Its an ok game don't get me wrong, but not mind blowing like most people say. should i even bother with bioshock 2?

I couldn't even finish it, just got bored :(

Oh come one guys! You wouldn't know a good game if it hit you in the face!

Didn't it feel amazing fighting the first big daddy? The sense of choice with the little sisters?

Maby the twisting storyline? And if not that, then at least appreciate how dam cool the part where the insane artists makes you take pictures of stuff..

Just dragged on a bit towards the end, and some of the gameplay was very samey.. a definate 8/10 game. No lower.

I agree with the above. I liked the twist 'would you kindly' but yeah, rubbish boss fight at the end!
Let's hope they make the 2nd one with the teleport plasmid this time!

Damn good story, OK gameplay.Saying that, without wanting to ruin the game for everyone who hasn't played it theres a bit which towards the end which makes you think back through the whole game which I didn't see coming. Not many games surprise me like that

Great game...but still a huge let down. I had probably impossibly high hopes based on the amazingness of System Shock 2...It didn't live up to them sadly. :)

I bought into the hype. The demo vids looked awesome and, doubtless, it was very pretty. However, after 3-4 hours or so I was bored to death. Never been tempted to go back. Huge let down.

No not really, as well, the Big Daddies aren't really that big, and they're only tough in the early part of the game when you are low on ammo and plasmids. It's a nice baddy for Bioshock, but in the grand scheme of gaming, nothing special. Serious Sam gives you that kind of experience, only 10x over.

As for the sense of choice with the little sisters, again, it's no more choice than you get in games like Deus Ex or KOTOR. It's just a typical RPG choice thing.

Good game but except for the odd place I wasn't 'blown away'. The stylisation is top notch, it's all a bit frustrating really as it has the foundations/template for a great game but doesn't quite nail it. It's the sort of game where a few tweaks to the gameplay mechanics (better combat, scaling difficulty as you progress in the game, just generally feeling not quite so 'clunky') could have created a real gem.
