I might buy a rover.

I've got the complete interior out of one of those upstairs in the loft. Has a nice gearknob, love the seats too.

That's my contribution to this.

Good night :D

Nope, don't want debt at this age. I haven't got a stable enough job, and i would already be paying £170 a month insurance on one.
Good for you. Its a much better attitude than some (most infact) people seem to have these days.

Utterly hideous interior. It could be the best car in the world ever (tm) and I still wouldn't have it unless I could totally change the inside.

Also, that grill looks shocking. Yes, yes I'm sure it's for like that for a good reason, but it simply doesn't work on a Rover 25 imho.

If you can live with that Grill but can live with the interior then your an odd odd man! Like has been said, the grill and whole colour scheme is there for a reason and changing it is like "WTF, ill de-badge my 911/ferrari/lambo". Respect the car as it is, dont change it!

EDIT: In fact buy this, much more your style :D http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WW...urce=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH

BTW, the ones who rubbish its look e.g. the grill, have you actually seen one?

The car isnt quite to my taste, but each to their own really..

As for buying a car purely on the basis of waiting 6 months for another you will lose out. Why not just buy a run of the mill cheapo car, run it into the ground for 6 months and be happy in the fact that it didnt cost you a lot to run.

In 6 months time the rover will only have 6 months MOT remaining, opposed to the 1 year you'd be buying it with. That alone will probably knock a few hundred off of what you paid.

And currently at £1300.. you can get a lot of car for that money. Get a **** car for 6 months, save a little more money and get the clio is a few months time!

If you like the look and drive of the car just buy it mate. There are a lot of people on here who seem to love to rubbish any car other than their own.

Personally I think they look ok, and at least have a bit of charachter compared to some of the bland euro/jap boxes on the road. At least the interior and bodykit are well put together and doesnt look like some little chav has modded it.

All I would say is make sure you dont pay a lot for it because whatever you think the car will go down in value because a) its a car and b) its a Rover.

Apart from that caveat I'd say it could be a fun buy.

Completely agree. If you cant afford to save up and buy an expensive car then you probably cant afford it run it properly. Theres no doubt you get more enjoyment out of owning your own car than having to keep paying a finance company to effectively rent it, whilst it depreciates at about the same rate as you're paying it off!

ROFL :D :D

why dont you just buy an old cheap banger to run around in for 6 months, that way, you can put even more money aside for the Clio 172?

Get an old volvo / ford anything really for a few hundred quid, with 6 months MOT on, and your sorted. Why spend over £1k on a car you only intend to keep 6 months when the money could be put towards the better car - the clio? :)

I like it! At £1200 -£1400 it's a bit of a baragin hot hatch ? If you are only keeping it for 6 months you shouldn't lose out if you do not wreck it!

More importantly while you are driving it you cannot see the front grill!

So he dosn't have to drive a rolling scrap heap around for 6 months maybe? As long as he dosesn't stack it he won't lose much in 6 months, the BRM is quite a rare model.

After reading the auction, I take back what I said. If it's as described, it's a particularly fine example of the type and well worth a punt. I've only ever seen ones run ragged by boyracer types in the past. Can't see it going for anything like £1500 though. To the OP - If you do buy it, don't respray ANYTHING. If you must, simply replace items with standard 200 ones till you sell it. Spraying original stuff on that would be like standing in the street ripping up tenners.

Bugger, I knew I should have gone with Admiral rather than saving 50 quid and going with quinn-direct. Just rang up and they refuse to insure me on any car above group 8 insurance. Wheras Admiral have given me great quotes on 106 gti's, saxo vts', clio 182s etc :(

Don't know what to do now because theres no group 8 car thats as quick or as fun to drive as mine.
