I miss Dayz days...

Only if by survival, you mean spend 4 seconds to find 5 high calibre rifles and 6 cans of food.

DayZ SA is not like A3:E or A2:O, because it puts more emphasis on the requirement to survive against the environment, not just spawn campers.
Yes, I agree SA has taken way too long to get where it needs to be, and the loss of Zombies at the moment is a bit annoying, but I still enjoy it for what it provides.
I played Overpoch for ages but it got boring being sniped by people camping just outside safe zones.
I also played Exile but you just begin to feel like James Woods in Family Guy, ooh a gun, ooh a gun, ooh a gun, ooh a gun.

No you're absolutely right, you spawn and you can find a high end machine.... Or you can play DayzSA, macro your auto run, sprint to an army out post, server jump and be completely geared in less that 30 mins. hahaha!

There's far far far more content in any arma 3 mod, how many car's are in dayz these days? any choppers?

I don't know how quick you expect the game to be developed but 2/3 years is still well within acceptable limits. You're either ignorant of game development processes or just trolling. As for "Day-no-Z"
iu

That was ONE patch for development reasons and they are back now in 0.59 experimental. I don't know why you are acting so butt-hurt over probably the best 20/30 quid anyone can spend in gaming at the moment. Most games twice the money don't give you 100 hours of gameplay, a broken DayZ gives most a lot more.

Mod was great when there was nothing else, but even the Alpha of DayZ is better on paper, just getting the performance issues sorted now but that's why there is a disclaimer before you buy i; because it's not finished.

-----

As for replying to the OP about buying it; only buy the game if you are willing to be part of active development and can put up with lots of bugs and random character wipes among a plethora of other problems.

Otherwise just wait until the final version is out and read the reviews, watch the twitch/youtubes and make the decision like some other people here should have done.

Thanks for that, i lol'd so hard i think i sharted!! People knew what they were buying with SA, then people quickly saw that the whole thing was a legit scam. Cash out as they knew a3 would wipe them out... which it has.

If you honestly think that 2 - 3 years is acceptable then you are literally bat **** crazy. By all means tho, dont take my word for it. Just go read the reviews by the MAJORITY of the steam population and most big youtubers... But hey i'm sure you're opinion is right above all those.

But lets go one step further.... H1Z1.... Thats been in dev for just as long, and that is year's ahead of DayzSA. I mean come on base building isn't even in there yet.

Rocket cashed out, BIS cashed out, only a small un-important un-enthusiastic team are working on this POS.... Or you could save your £20 -£30 on this cross over game and just buy arma 3 and be part of the next step forward in survival games.

First month or so playing Day Z mod is probably up there in top 5 gaming moments.

Once you learn the map Chernarus inside out, it loses it a lot of its charm and mystery.

Then the mod was ruined by kill on site and duplicate tents with OP gear. The threat of losing everything you had worked so hard for was gone.

Marker's server was great but there was pretty much two powerful groups on the server. Anyone going solo was just cannon fodder and then it got too clingy and safe. Didn't matter if I died because a group of like 12 people would secure my gear until I got back.

I wonder if the original Day Z mod thread still exists? The first 20 or so pages are like reading short stories, everyone had some amazing moments.

Sa felt like they were just cashing in on the popularity of dayz.
Why is it a couple of modders can do so much more in half or less of the time.

I agree though old dayz days were the best.

Yeah they have relaxed. You still can't swear on the forums and will be forgiven for lets say some very minor swearies but if there are several that are prominent pretty much still a no go :).

Rule i follow now is if i think it would be inappropriate for a younger audiences ears i won't post it

EDIT : Just watched the video :D You definitely don't want to be posting anything like that!

He certainly was not happy with that first shot!

This mod will always have a special place with me it's just a shame it went down hill and only got worse with standalone.

Though IMHO it is the founding father of the genre as we know it today. And for that i love it.

The mod still has support these days, they've done some good work on it and it's no longer as easy to just survive as it once was. A lot of the things from SA have been implemented (& better IMO) and the whole dynamic due to needing water and food quite often has taken away the usual Stary/NWAF kill zones.

Well worth checking out again, I have used the Europa servers as they host only vanilla DayZ.

As for SA, so much potential, biggest disappointment in gaming and I'd stake money it will never be truly finished now. If only I could get a refund I would.

Ah the good old dayz of the DE4 server...

Had the server before it became popular, people would actually interact with one another. It was a totally different game back then...

I used to love playing alongside/with you. Obviously you were way better than me, and kept me alive... and I probably got you killed.
But damn, that was such an awesome time.

There was someone else, I think from these forums, before I found your little group... or maybe it was you, when they had a camp right up the north end of the map on top of a hill.
I ran there all the way from Cherno, and was almost dead by the time I got there.

I started playing that night at about 6pm, and when I stopped the sun was coming up and it was somehow 5am. Went to bed for 2 hours then got up and went to work.

Not many games have pulled me in like that.

true was great fun and a game that had many things to keep you doing stuff interested. whetrher you were a survivalist or murderer friendly. covered all bases.

H1z1 is coming along nicely and probably the only game which will pull something off thats worthy of playing now.

arma 3 mods while i do enjoy the stupid performance issues and other bugs that dont get fixed just put me off playing them now.

out of them all breaking point was my fav.

also do not go on the steam forums for dayz sa. anything remotely negative about the game you are instantly banned :D

Such good times on Dayz!! I super hyped this game, almost to the point to me it couldn't fail. So disappointed!

Still tho, many more to come on Exile.

DE4 server <3.

still have good memories of the early days in DayZ

LOL DE4... Man you couldn't do anything on that server. Getting out of spawn was hard enough.

What do you think to breaking point? I much prefer it to exile. All of my experience with exile has been horrid so far :(

I've come to realise there are 2 maybe three types of "Dayz players"

1) People who love to PvP, PvP is the main aim of playing - Those seem to like BP
2) The gathering, base building, scavaging log on early mornings to do missions etc - They like Exile/Overpoch
3) Players who like to **** in the woods and sign songs around the fire - Dayz SA

I absolutely hated BP, just felt like you'd spend ages running around looking for a gun, then run into the centre for the PvP.

if i remember right, you were late to the party when pretty much everyone shot everyone on sight :(

DayZ was like a breath of fresh air. When I first teamed up with the MGT crew it was probably the best year I've had gaming. Countless hours of fun. But now they've ruined it, I don't even touch the game.

Something really simple about the old DayZ that has just been modded the hell out of and ruined imo.

I have to say BP has a very nice building system now and scavenging is a huge part of the game. In fact me and a friend spent the best part of 6 weeks scavenging for parts to fix up a house.

I do love the PVP on it however.

Some of my best memorys are on dayz mod! holding somebody up who was in the cherno shop near the coast. The one just south of the firestation. Held him up for a good 20 minutes we ended up getting attacked and i gave him a weapon to establish some trust. We then went on a good 12 hour adventure.

Shame about the kill on sight that happens now.

Followed from the early mod but felt Dean had no clue how to take the game forward. He was trying to be everything over just doing a few great things well. It was all about growing tomatoes, bloody hats and more hats and talking it all up for his promises of release to fall away and for him to go into hiding ( Still think it’s a measure of the guy) that was unacceptable. Don’t care if he’s been up Everest it was pathetic he went silent running for a time when it was all going wrong. After he left it has been more focused but still painfully slow. They now have to produce and produce some quality workmanship over the next year to get this out.

When Dayz was on the ball nothing could hold a candle to it. The excitement, fear and relief was tangible. If they can get half the magic that was the Mod experience without all the hacks and cheats and bugs they will be on to something worth playing. What I don’t like is things that frustrate like gun sway over the top as you have walked 200 yards and cant aim. I know it’s a work in progress but they way ever your gun reloads not letting you watch your shot is poor and takes away some of the fun. In the end they have to realise no one wants to survive like real life they want a fun game. Saving a bud with a blood transfusing was quick, easy and fun. Bring in you more or less need special bit of kit and training and blood groups makes it a chore over what was light hearted fun.

Don't suppose anyone's interesting in playing later? I'm micless atm (too nervous etc) but I'll hop on a server or unless someone wants or has one.

Well it all came out there with H1Z1.. but ignoring that I wouldn't take your word for it because I've seen games take a decade to be developed - though the more median figure tends to be around the 3-6 year mark especially when considering a new graphics engine. I don't know how old you are but you are showing a distinct lack of historic knowledge here, just a few off the top of my head; Duke Nukem, Spore, Starcraft 2 - And these were not by medium sized indie developers - took around teh decade mark to complete and aside from maybe Starcraft 2 didn't have half the complexity.

Now if we are to be fair to DayZ it would require at least another year without going into the common definition of a Beta to be considered late.

Also, please show me any respected reviewer or website that says DayZ is dead/a scam/or any other negative twisting? I would genuinely love to see it.

Finally, comparing a mod and an unfinished game is like comparing a brand new car with a body-kit and a prototype concept. Concept looks prettier and likely to be more accepted but doesn't function well and the body-kit is more subjectively liked but runs just fine.

EDIT: By the way, DayZ SA has a 75% early access approval rating so I think it is you who thinks he has the mighty opinion.
