I think i just lost my licence

I'm probably going to lose my licence for a few weeks.
For some stupid ****ing reason I didn't slow down for temporary roadworks, and kept going on cruise control.

136km/h in a 70 :( ( ~ 85 in a 40)

I'm expecting a fine of around €700, as it'll be €150 + €10 per km/h over 80.
I'll get the summons in due course, probably another fortnight.
It'll probably be a 2 week ban from what I've heard, so I'll just go on holiday..

On the plus side, I now know that the reading on the CC screen in the 'secret menu' is bang on.

Sucks, but not the end of the world, was it late at night?

2pm on a Sunday afternoon :p

I saw the bloody Primera behind the massive lane closure sign but I just didn't react. Very odd :(
They've done sod all roadwork there in the last 6 months. I swear they just keep it there to catch people speeding!

Typically, how you react to this will be how you're driving in a few months time, and not posting how guilty you feel in the small hours of the morning on an internet forum.

If you genuinely change your behaviour, great. However I doubt most in your position would.

I have just dont the most stupid, crazy and allthogether idiotic thing i have ever done.

I tried to do an overtaking manouver on a bit of road i though was safe. However, i misjudged and had to swerve back in to avoid an accident. The car coming the other way was a Police Traffic car.

I have been caught on video, and charged with Driving without due care and attention, and was apparently lucky not to be arrested.

I am so scared, i could have killed someone, and i dont think i will ever forget the way this has effected me. Im a **** of the highest order and fully expect to lose my licence. I Already have three points for a speeding offence. Im so dissapointed with myself right now. Driving without due care and attention is something i never thought i would ever be stupid enough to do. I, untill tonight, considered myself a good and safe driver.

Please be carefull on the roads, i will never forget the Police officers words. "You could have killed me" I deserve the full punishment of the law, and expect to have to pay heavily.

I expect no sympathy, quite the opposite.

Oh FFS - less melodrama already! You'll get some points and a telling off. You haven't been hurt, or hurt anyone. No property has been damaged.

You should learn from it, but you've done nothing that all of us haven't done at one time or another, you were just unfortunate to meet a TC coming the other way.

I also read threads.

... you were just unfortunate to meet a TC coming the other way.

Or fortunate, another car could have been speeding and you could have had a head on crash.

But the main thing is now you have had a good telling off from the rozzers, you will never, ever do it again - you will now be a much safer driver because you will always think twice before overtaking - I doubt you will lose your license but you will probably get a few more points on it.

you will probably get a letter in the post in a month saying ...no further action...

i'd assume they did not get a record of you speed, so you are only guilty of trying to overtake when it was not safe... but as you corrected the mistake they probably just wanted to scare you a bit...

even if they take it further surely its a fine and a few points anyway, not a bad?

Do people in here not read the thread??...it was posted about 4 yrs ago...Malt came in bumped it back to tell us his results but yet some people are either blind or cant read/comprehend that they havent even noticed that little tidbit of info:p.

I've gotten away with what sounds like similar close calls before where I was lucky other car was not a police car. Glad you learnt from it!

Also  at the people who have not read the thread.

THIS THREAD IS FROM 4 YEARS AGO

Glad your license is clean but i do think the first post was a bit over the top.
I willing to bet a lot of people here have had similar things happen (all be it without the other car being a traffic cop)

Ssssh! :p

Why would we look at the date? I expect any thread at the top to be current. The correct approach would have been to create a new thread with a link or excerpt from the original - not just bump a thread that is 4 years old and add a new post!
