I think i just lost my licence

I really can't stand the idiots who think it's funny to speed up. Hence I always ram it in 3rd and floor it. :(

I have had to speed up before to prevent and accident from happening when a girl in a 1.1 pug 106 tried to overtake me when coming up to a bridge with cars coming the other way. I was in my dads Octavia 2.0TDI. WE were too close to the bridge for me to brake and let her in so the only option was to floor it. - God knows what she was thinking

But anyway at least the op has really learnt from what happened. Still bad luck though! Hopefully you won't lose your licence!

Not trying to be clever here but I've lost 2 police cars before in a 998cc Micra, it's not difficult.

I know how you feel, I lost my toy cars I was playing with in my car the other day. Have you checked under the drivers seat? That's where I found mine.

Hmm, why so serious?

In my own head, I'm thinking you pulled out on a straight road to overtake, floored it and then realised you couldn't pass a line of cars and ducked back in 'early'. That imo is not a major problem?

Did you have a chance to pull back in earlier but decided to pip just one more car?

Did you really come that close to a headon? or was it on a corner/bend? Did you actually overtake any cars at all? Did he slam on the brakes?

Anyway, I hope you get off lightly :D

when i was younger

i attempted to pull some silly overtaking manoevres and got them horribly wrong

first one i got away with, but just had to pull back in

2nd one, still hadnt learnt and this time caused a minor scrape as i was rushing.

but after the 2nd time i learnt, and havent pulled any overtaking manoevres i couldnt finish since

just be glad that you've learnt your lesson, we all have to sometime.

Years ago, one of my friends misjudged an overtake and had to swerve back onto the correct side of the road at the last second. Unfortunately this caused the driver he swerved in front of to panic and go off the road...hit a tree and died. So, even if you lose your license that is still better than something like that happening, and it sounds like you'll think more carefully about your overtakes in future!

I'm so carefull with overtakes, not really had a scary one yet. Makes me cringe when i'm in someone elses car and they try to overatake with a 1.1 and aproaching corner. :(

As i was driving home today the MPV in front decided to overtake a bike on a blind corner. Sods law a car came round the corner. MPV swerved to avoid the car and nearly hit the cyclist. Stupid ****. You should always treat a bike like a car.

Anyway I sincerely hope you don't loose your licence, as you have learnt already. No need to take your licence to 'teach you a lesson'.

Your attitude will hopefully help you in court as you are aware of what you've done and realise the extent of your actions.

How will it effect you on a day to day bases? In terms of work and things?

He'll be alright, he hasnt actually caused an accident, or anybody to come to harm.
I would think a day in court with a decent soliciter and a police officer that doesnt want to waste all day on a "mabye he will but probably wont" case will see him walk away with a slapped wrist.
Thats what i would assume.

And as for kickk Violent-j in the pods about losing traffic cars, i thought i was being blue lighted by a patrol car because as i flew past the junction he was emerging from on my RD350 at 100mph he switched his lights on after turning in my direction.
I took the next turning off down some of the twistiest nastiest bumpy road i've ever been on a canned the living daylights out my RD for the next 10 minutes before turning off in a picknick area and sitting behind a hedge.
He didnt drive past so he probably wasnt after me, but it was exciting enough at the time.

So, you get the honour of being the first person on my ignore list *ever* and a helping of these:

It's funny. I was going to ignore him a long time ago, but for some reason I never did. This thread has given me another reason.

EDIT - Just noticed he's suspended now too. Good.

Yup I have also musjudged an overtaking manuvour. Was on the last OcUK RR infact when geing along some country road. Felt a plank for doing it, luckily no police round me when I did it. Though the person I overtook followed me and stopped outside the pub we were at and tried to find me. Learnt from it though, best to be on the cautious side and live.

I think it's often amusing to read the crap he comes out with so he's not going on my ignore list just yet. :p

Hehe, yeah I guess that's true. I just prefer not to get to the point where I start arguing with people.
Why not, makes the boring internet much more interesting ;) What i cant get over is the fact that in about 2 years time he will look back and think about that famous micra, and just wonder what he was smoking at the time.

Were they parked? ;)

...and unoccupied? :p

anyways MV - be grateful it wasnt as serious as it could have been. you've made the mistake but the important thing is you learn from it (i.e. buy a faster car that allows you to over take/accelerate quickly rather than pootling along ;))

I deserve the full punishment of the law, and expect to have to pay heavily.

kinky :o

I almost had an accident overtaking, the guy infront was doing 30 on a 60 road and he kept on doing it knowingly, so as I began to overtake....BOOM he foots it and lo and behold a big ass truck is coming. If my car wasnt powerful enough who knows what could have happened :(

The gap looked so huge, but at such speeds the gaps close very quickly ~ lucky for me I just made it, Id say roughly one to two metres away from the oncoming truck (who was flashing / beeping at me)

I never overtake now unless its a clear straight road, very long one! and the driver infront is just being stupid.
