I think Raymond has been up to it again

This forum doesn't allow advertising of businesses so people don't tend to advertise. Raymond did and got in trouble for it.

Fair enough.

The best watermarking I've seen is someone on PH who takes some awesome pictures and places a very discreet watermark somewhere in the photo. Usually looks like it is supposed to be there.

We're paying over £1k for a good local photographer in the North East, methinks Raymond might be closer to the £3-4k bracket. :)

I think Raymond's rates are actually quite reasonable - if I was having a UK wedding I would definitely want him to be my photographer.

I did get in trouble for it but lets not forget the other facts:

1 - what i got in trouble for was a thread that was 12 months old, a watermark that is 3 years old. All if the sudden one day it was a problem.

2 - Many others have committed the exact "offence" as I have done and continue to do so even today with no consequences.

3 - I have never said once "come hire me". Ever.

And that you for everyone who appreciate my work. I am most grateful. :)

You're right, you didn't say "come hire me". But I think you are a bit of a victim of your own success as so many people recommend you on here.

What you are guilty of though and which may be why you were singled out is because you never missed an opportunity to post a picture you have taken relating to the topic at hand :p

(A nice way of saying spamming your pics all over the forum :p)

This is how people even in GD who don't go anywhere near the photography section know of your existence and how you take such good photographs :)

I'm thinking he posts here too. The watermark in the curve of the arch and so on? Lots of indoor photography of cathedrals and stately home types?

It's quite a modest and subtle placement technique I guess, but very effective in that it seldom detracts from the photo itself. You take the photo in (which is always worth it, as they're excellent), then go looking for the watermark as though it's some sort of Easter egg. :D

Yes, but how is posting photographs of say the infamous "out of focus" cherry tomatoes was ever a master plan to get me hired to shoot someone's wedding? lol

People forget that when I joined here i was still in university studying Architecture and did not even own a digital camera. My photography grew up with this forum and now I no longer share it on here is, to me, tragic.

Because someone will see that photo shot at f/1.2 with a ridiculous amount of blur and think WOW and they then look on your website for other pictures and see that you do weddings.

You know the game better than I do and you know this :)

Please keep posting your pictures though. Just join in with the rest of the hobbyists and lose the watermark :)

Get on 500px to share brah!

There is a new Wedding Category and everything! :D

EDIT - In fact...you're already on there! Will follow dreckly!

Don't hate the player. Hate the game.

P.S. You either have great manual focus ability or are extremely lucky with the Mark 2 focus! :p

You didn't answer how much it cost? :p or the oddity that you use an iPad a lot yet your sites in flash :p

As for watermark, I'd like to see you still posting your photos. Could you change the watermark for OcUK to 'Raymond Lin' rather than Raymond Lin photography... Technically wouldnt be advertising surely?

Yes, that was my intention, clearly.

1 - find a computing forum mainly populated by 13-20 year olds
2 - post photos of food
3 - hoping they go to my site and get work.

My intention is to share, whether it is food or weddings. It was the same before I started in the first place as it is now. Whether you believe that is up to you and I am not going to try and convince you otherwise.

You can have Raymond Lin watermarked on your photos on the forums, just not the full business name. And to be fair, even though you still have your full name on the photograph if people wanted to hire you, they would find you with one simple Google search anyway. :)

Shhh, don't tell another Don I said that. ;)

I believe it all happened due to it happening frequently, and to be honest I think you stood out like a sore thumb because your photos are simply amazing. We are not stopping you from posting there, and we do not dislike you, so keep up the good work and feel free to post again, however I am not forcing you to post as it is up to you whether you do or not. :)

How much the site cost or how much I charge? The site is 3 and a half years old, it was a few hundred pounds. As for my fee, i don't think i am allowed to talk about that here, or risk doing so, hence I sidestepped the question :p

iPad first launch in the UK in May 2010.

New site in the pipeline, Flash, HTML, iPad, iPhone, mobile etc compatible. I'd link you for a teaser but then i will definitely get banned for doing so.

Not just for you, but for the rest of us too. I'd say your wedding threads where comfortably the highest quality threads I viewed on the forum in the past few years.

Inspiration just seeped from your photos, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's painfully jealous of what you posted (clearly not judging by this thread).

We've been through this before, but it's sad that posts which show off such artistry and are almost universally admired, are taken from us. I'm sure at least 9999/10000 of us won't have you as a photographer at any event, but the remaining 9999 could still enjoy or take something from your work.

I stole my gfs laptop, so have now looked at base fees. Technically fiancée, hence why I was interested... That said the wedding won't happen for a few years. Might keep it in mind...

But yeah please Keep posting images, even if you just reduce the watermark to (c) Raymond Lin. Whilst some people seem a bit anti, for no apparent reason, I do really enjoy your photos....

Thank you.

As to your first paragraph. I wish someone had answered that question when i asked directly instead of suspending me for a week would have helped massively.
