Afternoon all,

I've decided to keep my 205 XS for a while and save hard for a 205 GTi. Seeing as i'm going to be going short on quite a lot of stuff for a while (going out etc) - I want it to be worthwhile.

So what kind of price would I be looking at for a fantastic 205 Gti, in mint condition? Where would I be best off finding it?

Last of all - How hard is it to find a Miami Blue GTi?

cheers :D

There are mint ones out there but they go for about £2500 upwards m8(1.9 that is) i'm on my third 205gti and want mi16 with carbs or turbo next your best places are either 205gti clubs/forums just do a search or pistonheads :)

people think of the miami blue cars as extremely rare, but then the later ones are pretty rare anyway. try finding the special edition now theyre rarer :)
common are: black, grey, red and white earlyish cars.

imo save up and buy a very nice one from some 205 forums. you'll probably pay ott, but u should end up with a nice one.

p.s i wouldnt be saving every penny to get one tho, theyre fun but not something u should be missing ** beer for.

have to agree, you would pay dearly for a mint gti! they dont age to well, and they get driven hard.
I to have toyed with the idea of doing an alloy block mi16 conversion with twin 45's and a sweet ignition only ecu set-up, fantastic track day weapon.

I'm registered on 205 GTi Drivers - i'm keeping an eye out on there. I just don't want to buy another lemon like my XS - i've only got it in decent condition after having it for a year!

I know the bodywork isn't going to be in great nick, they're made of tin foil :p

those prices are just silly for std 205's......

last one we sold was a g plate in 93 for 4k, 13years later the prices havent even halfed ? :/

Sweet Jeeee.... Look at the prices on those!

I like 205 gtis... but not at >2K. What do the fast 106's in good condition start at?

Having said that, I do feel that all decent old classics (mgbgts etc) in good condition are always worth 3K, so perhaps its not so mad.

They have. Inflation over 13 years means 4K then is >8K now.

My friend had a 1.6 gti 205 which he brought for 700 pounds a few years back, it had a few problems but non that couldn’t be sorted with a spanner and a haynes manual :)
it was such a fun car when it ran right and didnt overheat lol

about £2000 too much tho!!

only a pillock would pay £4 for an old gti....

*edit* LOL @ westy!! those are the best seats to have, half leather! full leather is just horrible, you just slide to the end of your seat round every corner and in summer you burn yourself and stick to it!
cloth is ok, but not as snazzy :)

£1500 should secure you a very clean 205 GTi. Miami Blue is relatively obtainable - only the special editions (easily spotted by the full leather interior) are hard to get hold of.

Paying £4000 upwards defeats part of the object - getting a good performing car for little outlay.
