I5 2500k - Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P Overclocking

Anyone got 4.6GHZ or more can post their settings?

Don't really need to post settings, just up the multipler to 47x and stick more volts through the CPU :)

I run my i5 stable at 4.7ghz at +0.020 DVID and everything else on stock/auto, which pushes the volts up to 1.37ish.

I have had it at 5.1ghz stable but that needed +0.100 DVID which I didn't like as i'm still not sure on the reported volts from CPU-Z/CoreTemp.

What are you cooling it with? I doubt you will see much performance increase going above 4.5ghz and might be better keeping it at 4.5ghz and trying to lower the volts and run the CPU cooler.

I'm very tempted to stick mine back to 4.5ghz with DVID set to -0.030

Yeh but this is Intel Burn Test which takes the heat a lot higher than prime does, no game will get it to that temp!. At this clock with this temp is acceptable using this software. Never get anywhere near 70C during games, crysis/BF3 e.t.c

It passed as well :)

Mines 20 run intel burn stable @ 4.6GHZ @ 1.275 vcore with load line at level 6 with max temp of 73C atm, but I'm starting to think this cpu is special oO

Same board and cpu but an 850w gold psu, dunno if that is what is making such a difference in vcore levels or not.

Nice settings Neil.

Just got the same board & dropped an i7 2600k into it.

Currently running Prime for nearly an hour @ 4.5GHz using Core Voltage of 1.056v

Cooling with Corsair H50-1 with Arctic silver.

Temps seem quite high though as I've hit 83c so may have to cut the OC back a bit. :/

Major problem...got the above board and 2500K.

Tried the settings on the 1st post (for 4.5Ghz)...rebooted but nothing, no post what so ever, no text comes up on the screen...cpu and case fan spin up and then switch off after about 5 seconds and it tries to reboot again. The cycle repeats.

I have tried to clear the cmos and also removed the battery.

This doesn't seem to have done anything. The same thing happens as above ie tries to post, nothing displayed then into a continuous loop of powering up then down.

Surely I couldn't have borked the motherboard just by changing the settings in the BIOS as on 1st post.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Disaster avoided...the problem seems to be that I wasn't waiting long enough for the reset back to default BIOS settings. I had to leave the battery out for 5 minutes. Booted up fine at default clock speeds.

Think I'll wait a while until I try OC'ing again.
