I5 2500k - Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P Overclocking

Are these temps you are getting, averaging about 75c, will within tolerances??

I bought the i7 920 overclock pacakage a couple of years ago, but never liked th 85c temps under load...

hey there, been follwing this as i have a z68-ud7 and a 2600k...ive noticed your over clocking via the intel speed boost ratio(or what ever its called hehe)..... ive just had a play and couldnt get above 4.2ghz......i also noticed that when i use your method the vcore is higher than just changeing the cpu multiplier......

just changeing the multiplier to 42 on mine i get a vcore of around 1.260v and changeing it your way the vcore is around 1.360, im using cpuz ver 1.58.7 which reads the vcore the same as touch bios.......

also could this be my problem....? i never touch or change :

TURBO POWER LIMIT [ 250 ]
CORE CURRENT [ 250 ]

i leave as auto......

thought i would have another attempt as so far i just cant get above 4.2ghz without blue screen.......

Hi all been following this myself as I also have the Z68xp-Ud3p. I have managed to get a stable 4.5 ghz with 1.33 vcore LLC level 6 and all other settings as in first post apart from my Ram which is low voltage so is at around 1.368 volts

I am a bit concerned though because despite 12 hours stable on prime my voltage goes up to 1.392 vcore in prime and during battlefield 3 i get 1.401 vcore. Surely this is a little high? Or is this safe for a few hours gaming here and there.

Reckon it's worht trying to push multiplier to 46 or will this increase my vcore beyone 1.4?

suggestions please I think we should keep this post alive as i know a lot of people have concerns overclocking on the gigabyte z68s

cheers for the speedy reply mate. Will give that a go tonight and check for stable. I'm assuming lowering the LLC is the first step before thinkking about lowering vcore as i know i am prob going to need around 1.38 for 4.5 as this came up as my vid in realtemp. would that be correct?

Also on another note. Have any of you ever had issues that after overclocking you get a windows pop up asking you if you want to turn off windows Aero ( almost like it thinks the computer is actually slower after overclocking) Let me know!!

Ok i'm gonna give 4.6 with same settings but LLC level 5 and i will boost my ram voltage to 1.4 to keep it a bit more stable

Ok well this went terribly i altered the seetings this tiny bit and got the dreaded bootloop couldn't even get to bios after removing power and cmos battery to reset. i ended up pulling the MoBo 24 pin and re inserting and was able to access the bios so just changed back to default settings. I have to say i was surprised that such a little change in settings caused the computer to play up as much as this. could i have a faulty board??

I've just got mine up and running, £50 for 16gb DDR3, £142 for the 2500k and £85 for this mobo in B-Grade = bargain upgrade.

Currently running at 4ghz but will get it up to 4.5 or so later.

1.4 ram volts... that's really low, most default to 1.5v however 1.55v+ is the sweet spot. Not saying thats what is causing your issue. I agree though happens to me too one wrong move and the board is hell to get started up!. Hits the boot logo freezes and reboots

i've decided to just keep it at 4ghz with only the multiplier changed everything else on auto. sure i could decrease volts a bit but i'm not fussed as this keeps me happy!

maybe further down the line i'll give it another go but i'll keep an eye on this thread in the mean time for any breakthroughs!

Still can't use 4.8 and this board is a complete **** with it's boot loops, even resetting csmos it doesn't always fix it. You end up stuck on the BIOS logo and it just reboots itself and repeats.

4.8 is unstable can't even reach past the bios screen :(, any tips?
