i5 3570K quick test.

Hey Stulid, thanks for posting your results :)

Does anyone know when exactly we can expect to see these available - sometime Sunday or will it be Monday? Anyone got any idea of pricing, I know the RRP in $ put them reasonably comparable to their SB counterparts but SB are going fairly cheap atm so for me I'll have to base it on price/performance.

Hello nelly, looking at your sig you have a UDH5 mobo is it worth spending more for that mobo over the D3H

Hi :) well I always tend to go for upper end motherboards, I doubt I will even use the extra features of the UD5H, if I was thinking sensibly and want to save £60 then I would go for the D3H - put the money saved towards something else like better graphics card or an SSD etc.

Check here for differences >> http://www.gigabyte.com/products/comparison/list.aspx?ck=2&pids=4139,4144

Well I'll be using it, Prime95 has failed on me after 15 hours which is too long to wait for testing, IBT is much quicker and to be fair it is only pushing the cpu to the max which there should be nothing wrong with doing that, if the IB cannot handle IBT that's say's quite a lot about the chip.
I've always used IBT as a quick test, just going by what I've watched or read, i'll have to find the place where I found it and post it - was on a review site. :)

I reckon I'm going to get Ivybridge just for a playaround, if I don't like it can always keep my 2500K lol! :)

That seems like very cool temps for 1.32v compared to other reviews. Most of those were 3770k's so if the 3570k can do this then the 3570k looks much better for overclocking.

For reference my 2500K @4.5Ghz using the same cooler averaged 52.75c across the cores running Prime.

The average of the 3570K on the previous page is 56.5c

Different boards were used though.

1 thing to note is that the OP stated that Prime lasted for 20 minutes before it failed.
This was at 4.5Ghz.
I'm not sure if the cpu, is completely stable at 4.5Ghz, and may need more volts (if the cooler can handle the extra heat).

I'm not sure if this cpu can be run 24/7, stable, @4.5Ghz.

EDIT: Stulid stated that the cpu did not fail after 20 minutes, but was shut down by him.

Idd, the problem with IB's is that they reach a point around the 1.2-1.25v mark where temps just skyrocket. If thats not happening for you at 1.32v it's a good sign although most reviews have acheived 4.5Ghz at lower volts.

When will you be pushing towards 4.8?

Trouble is it's never clear if reviewers were using a retail or ES chip.

I've managed to put my new build together - everything except CPU - without touching my savings because I had a huge clearest of stuff on EBay. I can therefore afford the 3770k if I wanted to treat myself. Plus I still have my old system to sell.

My new system is such a huge upgrade.

Awesome work Stulid. Looking forward to getting hold of one of these chips later this week.

Any rumours of an early release or are we seriously going to have to wait until Sunday?
