With theese chips, do certain batches or even places of manufacture make much difference regarding overclocking ability. I remember this being the case with the 65nm q6600. My current chip is a bit of a volt hungry malaysian manufactured one, (1.330 in bios for 4.5ghz) and cant remember the batch no. Been scouring the auctions/members market for a proven decent lower voltage clocker. Seen one on mm but the owner has only ever ran it at a mild oc of 4ghz, costa rica manufactured. Basically, are there known better batches or is it just luck of the draw. Thanks in advance.

The best clocking Ivy are weeks 18 and 29 from Costa Rico. Malay tend to have stronger IMC. My 29 Is 6.7 3D.

Ahh, cheers for that. The one listed on mm i can just about make out the batch no on, (eyesight isnt great tbh).

Costa rica

Havent done much memory oc'ing on the one in sig though, but did have the ram stable at 2133mhz 9-10-10-21 trfc 96 on a previous 3570k.

mine's L222b079 for what it's worth

malay chip

4.5ghz 1.212v

4.6ghz 1.26v

4.8ghz 1.38v

Some nice low voltage clockers there guys. Tbf the current one has been running pretty well, albeit just a little bit hot. Not helped by the recent spate of good weather. And my cards dumping a fair amount of heat into the case. Cant remember what batch mine is, but next time ive got the cooler off ill have to check just out of curiosity.

I have another two real good LN2 CPU (6.6ghz) and some 5ghz water samples here too I will check the batches and add to the thread. I know the LN2 CPU's are around 1.3v prime stable on Air no modding.

Ok my best chips are 30 Costa and 29 Costa. All of em. My previous bets prior to these where all week 18 C Costa chips.

Got a 3770K coming at the end of the month, which will be going in the Sabretooth. Anyone see any problems OCing this chip with the P67 board?

not sue idleman, only one way to find out though,be sure to flash to latest bios before you pull your 2500k out

ohh and which part of the batch number determines the week of production?

if you can clock to the same 4.5ghz then that will equal 4.8ghz on sandy, then there's the bonus of hyperthreading

seems my chip is week 22,not sure if that's good for malay,it's good if it's a costa cpu

I`ll check the Batch number before I install it and check back to see if I got a good one or not. :D
Although I did`nt buy with OCing as the priority but hoping to see a bit more benefit from my Gpus in certain games.
Will probably open a thread for some OCing advice as soon as I get stuck, which should`nt take long.

you can if you want,or save the settings just incase

they might work for the 3770k idk

just load optimised defaults in the bios to reset it to stock,

4.5ghz is a nice speed if you can get it. Mine needs a lot of voltage to get there. But in games such as bf3, the performance over my old 3570k (also at 4.5ghz) with sli is great. Previously i was getting upto 92% cpu use and the cards wouldnt budge over 80%. Now getting 65% cpu use and cards maxing at 99%.
