i7 930

probably why ocuk put the 920 prices up so much, they are probably hoping most people wont notice how overpriced they are on here

Isn't everything overpriced these days lol I don't think the 930 will make an exception :) it should be priced the same as the 920 - 220ish. So it will more likely be around 230-240ish on release day.

Then again if Intel hasn’t put up the retail price on the 930, which I imagine they haven't then we "should" see a fair, similar price to the 920. It is merely a replacement, not an upgrade. Therefore the price doesn't need upgrading either, but prices are senseless and unpredictable these days so who knows.

Been looking at some people's opinions who have had the 930, apparently there are good and bad batches.

Good = 3001A187
Bad = 3001A135

For overclocking at least.
Would it be possible if OCUK could notify us of batch numbers when they have them in stock/go on sale? Would be greatly appreciated. Tbh I wouldn't mind paying a bit more if I could be guaranteed a decent batch.

They've never done that before in the past, at least during the 5 and a bit years I've been shopping here, so I'm not sure this 930 CPU will change that.

On a related note: I've just seen one competitor put up their pre-order price. Hope OCuk can get their's up soon :)

When I got my 920's I asked over the phone and on the customer services forum if they could tell me what batch I'd be receiving, and I was told that they aren't able to do this as they have several different batches in their warehouse so they don't know exactly what's being sent out.

Are these processors even out yet?

If not then those batch numbers wont be retail..

When they start listing them on uk sites you know its very very near to release date.
As for different batches shops dont want to be left with the bad batches of cpus thats why they wont pick them for you.

These chips will be sitting in the shops ready for the big day.

Tbh mate, every batch of CPU's will have good and bad chips.

I've talked to people that have had the same batch as me, but theirs are absolute dogs, whereas both of the chips I have here are from the same batch (they both have the exact same batch number actually!!) and they are excellent clockers.

One is better than the other though, as it needs less Vtt and vCore for 4GHz, and it seems to run slightly cooler as well, obviously I kept the best one for my rig and dropped the other one into the missus' rig! :D

If these chips get released and are more expensive than the 920's are, I personally would just choose the 920 instead, as I highly doubt these will clock any better than the current 920's do..

It would be a different story if they'd built them on a 32nm node, I'd probably have flogged my 920 and bought one if this was the case.

Very true in everythink you said i agree totally just pot luck in the end. I wont pay that price too much will wait for the drop in price before i go that way.

I have seen price on another site of £238.80 so far so not as cheap as i7 920.

Price: £199.99 +VAT (£234.99 Inc. VAT)
PRE-ORDER NOW - Stock Arrives 28th February

on another site which is probably the RRP of a 920, they are selling 920s right now for 193quid so i would just get a 920 instead..

i found the 226 oem one and its on a site thats not usually that competive especially with their 920 prices so id imagine 930s will drop to around 210 within a month at most places
